The second quarterfinal in the Ontario Conference playoffs will take place in the Nation’s Capital when the Sooners and Hurricanes battle on Saturday.  Oddly enough this was the same match-up in their first games of the season and now one of their season’s will close.

They met twice this year with the Sooners handling the Hurricanes in both match-ups.  They would outscore them 76-23 using a very balanced offence and a swarming defence.

Coming into the postseason the Sooners have lost two straight with their last win three weeks ago at Hamilton.  The Hurricanes meanwhile have sputtered this year with a young roster and are coming off a loss to the top ranked St. Clair Saints.  They will look for any positives to build upon heading into the weekend, and one of those rays could be the fact their lone win of this season came on the road.

The Sooners have shown they can move the football on the ground with Rashaad Johnson and Christian Phillips but quarterback Owen Cowan has been missing in action as of late which gives their offence a different dynamic.

The Hurricanes will need to play their best game of the season in all facets to complete the upset.

The winner will move onto the semi-final to meet either the St. Clair Saints or London Beefeaters next weekend.
