The CJFL is pleased to announce the Week 10 Players of the Week.  Polls are open now to make one of them the official CJFL Fans Choice Player of the Week.  Fans can vote until 5:00pm PST on Wednesday!

Offensive Players of the Week

BC Conference 
RB Elelyon Noa – Okanagan Sun

Another week and another honour for running back Elelyon Noa of the Okanagan Sun who is named the best offensive player in BC for the third time this season.  Last weekend he carried the ball an eye popping 41 times for 253 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns.  He would set a new team rushing record in the process.  His 41 carries in a single game is second most in BC Conference history, one off the record of 42 set in 2000.  

Ontario Conference 
QB Maurice Sodja – St. Clair Saints

For a third consecutive week Maurice Sodja was dynamic in leading the undefeated Saints to their sixth straight win.  Despite a slow start for the Saints offense Sodja once again utilized both his arm and legs as he completed 15 of 23 passes for 302 yards and four touchdowns while also toting the rock 14 times for 80 yards and added another touchdown.

Prairie Conference 
QB Trey Reider – Saskatoon Hilltops 

For the fifth time in six games a Saskatoon Hilltop is named the best offensive player of the week in the Conference.   It’s the second time this year that quarterback Trey Reider wins this award after throwing four touchdown passes back on Sunday and gained 278 yards through the air on 15 of 22 passes. 

Defensive Players of the Week

BC Conference 
LB Andy Ofosuhene – Valley Huskers

Saturday night the Huskers defence was simply outstanding holding down the high-powered offence of the Langley Rams to without a touchdown.  Linebacker Andy Ofosuhene was a one-man wrecking crew making eight solo tackles, he had a sack, a fumble recovery and assisted on two other tackles. 

Ontario Conference 
DL Dimitri Duffield – Hamilton Hurricanes

Despite the loss the Hamilton defensive lineman was a stalwart on defence as he racked up eight tackles and recovered two fumbles, one of which he forced for an impressive 22 defensive points.

Prairie Conference
LB Cohen McCluskey – Winnipeg Rifles

Cohen McCluskey had himself a day on Sunday in the Rifles first win of the season.  He collected an impressive three interceptions and tallied 107 return yards in the process.  His biggest pick was a 46-yard return for a touchdown in the third quarter which all but sealed the victory.  He added eight solo tackles and assisted on two others. 

Special Teams Players of the Week

BC Conference 
KR Luc Rodrigues – Valley Huskers 

The Huskers were able to score 33 points this past weekend and field position was to their advantage thanks in large part to Luc Rodrigues and his eight punt returns.  He averaged 22 return yards and galloped 92-yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to secure the win. 

Ontario Conference
KR Cameron S.t Kitts-Park – St. Clair Saints

Intent on extinguishing any thoughts of a second half comeback by the Beefeaters, St. Kitts-Park took the opening kickoff of the second half and raced 100 yards for a touchdown and the Saints never looked back in their dominating win over their rivals. 

Prairie Conference
K Evan Guercio – Winnipeg Rifles

The foot of Evan Guercio helped secure the Rifles first win of the season on Sunday as he booted three field goals from 18, 23 and 27 yards out and was a perfect 2-2 in coverts recording 11 of their 23 points scored.  He added five kickoffs averaging 50.4 yards.
