A quick recap of the week that was in the BC Conference
Okanagan Sun 24
Westshore Rebels 10
Saturday night at the Apple Bowl the Sun clinched homefield advantage throughout the BC Conference playoffs with a victory over the visiting Rebels and sweep the seasonal schedule.
The game was tied at 10 after three quarters before the Sun struck for 14 points in the final frame en route to their ninth victory of the season. The offence was led by Elelyon Noa and the run game as he rushed an eye-popping 41 times for 253 yards and tallied two touchdowns. He set a new Sun rushing record in the process.
Running back Tristan Peddle also got into the endzone for the Sun.
Both defences played well, but it was the Sun D that kept the Rebels off balance. They held the visitors to 188 offensive yards, just 90 through the air. Kenley Williams, Ahmed Borhot and Jacob Bond each intercepted a pass and Bond finished with 6.5 tackles.
The Rebels lone touchdown came on an exciting 73-yard pick-six by Okunlola Ofuwaferahmi.
Next weekend the Sun (9-0) will finish the regular season schedule and host the Valley Huskers (5-3) and the Rebels (5-3) will look to snap their two-game slide and welcome the VI Raiders (2-6).
Valley Huskers 33
Langley Rams 5
What a win for the Valley Huskers getting a massive passing game gaining 321 yards on a usually very stingy Rams defence.
Quarterback Tyran Duval completed 17 passes for 253 yards and had a touchdown. On a trick play, receiver Luc Rodrigues threw a 68-yard touchdown strike to Dhag Mora as well. Steven Koniuck caught four passes for a game high 144 yards and had a major.
Defensively they forced seven turnovers and their secondary knocked down 10 passes, frustrating the Rams offence. Andy Ofosuhene was a beast with eight tackles, had a sack and a fumble recovery to lead the way.
This was the first time the Rams were held without a touchdown this season.
Next weekend the Huskers (5-3) will visit the Okanagan Sun (9-0) and the Rams (6-3) will have bye week.
VI Raiders 24
Kamloops Broncos 14
The Raiders captured their second win of the season and swept the seasonal series with the Broncos after a 14-point second quarter.
Defensively the Raiders were on point recording four interceptions and holding the Broncos running game to 37 yards. Tani Wisdom had 2.5 tackles and two sacks to lead the way.
The ground game rushed for 216 yards led by Rhonde Lyle had his two touchdowns while Owen Giancola added one.
The Broncos scored eight of their 14 points in the fourth quarter, attempting to comeback on the Raiders. Both of their touchdowns came through the air as quarterbacks Clark Snider and Ryan Petersen each threw one hauled in by Brock Dufort and Kaleb Senz.
Next weekend the Raiders (2-6) will visit the Westshore Rebels (5-3) and the Broncos (1-7) will play at Prince George (1-7).
