The road teams prevail in Week 9 across the BC Conference

Westshore Rebels 10
It was a massive game in the standings as the Rams went on the road to beat the Rebels by 13-points using their ground game, while stopping the Rebels.
The Rams’ biggest play was when Gob Deng took the opening kick off of the second half 104-yards to the endzone to give the visitors momentum the rest of the way. Throughout the game the Rams gave a heavy does of Bruce Jones on the ground, carrying the ball 22 times for 182 yards and he scored a touchdown.
When their drives stalled kicker Marcus Jones hit three important field goals from 19, 26 and 37 yards away.
Defensively they held the Rebels run game to just 52 yards on the ground. Ethan Ginogino was solid with five solo tackles, three assists and even picked off a pass. Isaiah Cooper added a pair of quarterback sacks.
Though the Rebels had difficulty moving the ball on the ground, they did find success through the air as Ethan Pickard threw for 271 yards on 20 completions, but he was held without a touchdown. Their lone major came on a run from Tristan Remus-Arevalo.
Their defence completely shutdown the Rams passing game. Oluwaferanmi Okunlola collected six tackles, three assists and a had sack and Ted Windom Jr. was brilliant with three sacks.
Next weekend the Rams (6-2) visit the Valley Huskers (4-3) and the Westshore Rebels (5-2) head to the Okanagan for a date with the Sun (8-0).
Okanagan Sun 38
Prince George Kodiaks 6
Defensively the Sun were absolutely dominating in this victory, forcing five turnovers in the Kodiaks first five possessions, four of them for interceptions. In all the Sun created six turnovers in their eighth straight win of the campaign.
Kenley Williams had himself an outstanding game, picking off three passes on the afternoon. Defensive back Easton Fenske also intercepted a pass and Vicente Ferreira added an interception and had a fumble recovery.
On the offensive side quarterback Marek Flipek completed 11 passes for 175 yards and threw three touchdowns. Two of those majors went to Jordayne Falconer with the other in the direction of Ben Chomolok. On the ground Elelyon Noa got into the endzone yet again on 10 carries for 104 yards.
The Kodiaks lone points came from the right foot of kicker Brady Harper who kicked field goals of 12 and 38 yards.
Next weekend the Sun (8-0) welcome the Westshore Rebels (5-2) and the Kodiaks (1-7) enjoy the bye week.
Valley Husker 53
Kamloops Broncos 36
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Broncos were leading by a point but couldn’t stop the Huskers from rattling off 28 points in the final frame to win their fourth of the season.
If you like offence, this was the game to be at as both teams combined for 1051 total yards, not to mention the 89 points scored.
The Huskers used their passing game to the tune of 368 yards as quarterback Tyran Duval took every snap, completed 20 passes, four of them for touchdowns. Colby Johnson hauled in two majors while Payton Lake and Steven Koniuck each had a single.
On the ground both Jawad Harb and Grady Andrea tallied touchdowns, Andrea’s was a 42-yard scamper to the house.
The Broncos outgained the Huskers recording 574 yards of total offence. Quarterbacks Clark Snider and Ryan Petersen combined for three touchdowns finding Colton Meikle, Coltin Petersen and Kaleb Senz for those majors.
The ground game gave the Broncos some success as well, when Owen Stockburgger got into the endzone.
Next week the Huskers (4-3) welcome the Langley Rams (6-2) for a very important match-up and the Broncos (1-6) visit the VI Raiders (1-6).
