The Ottawa Sooners gave back this past summer

This summer the Ottawa Sooners took on the role of Camp Counsellors at the Stittsville Mega Dome in the nation’s capital.

This two-month camp ran until the end of August and the Sooners engaged kids in activities like frisbee, dodgeball, baseball, bouncy castles, soccer, and big slides. They built great relationships with the campers providing them with an active summer, getting the kids away from their screens.

In fact, the Sooners didn’t stop there, they collaborated with the YMCA as well in both July and August vising eight YMCA locations across the city. They conducted football skill training and activities with an average of 20 to 65 kids per location.

The YMCA acknowledged the Sooners with this letter:

To the Ottawa Sooners Football Club,

On behalf of the YMCA of the National Capital Region, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support and partnership this summer. Your dedication to the community and commitment to youth initiatives have made a significant impact in our region, and we are truly appreciative of the positive influence you have had on our campers.

The Ottawa Sooners Football Club not only showed off their skills to our campers but provided an experience for our campers that fosters essential life lessons in teamwork, resiliency, and perseverance.

We are proud to collaborate with you in promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging active participation in sports. Together, we are building a stronger and healthier community.

Thank you once again for your incredible support and dedication. We look forward to continuing our partnership and making a lasting impact in the lives of children and youth in the National Capital Region.
