The Hilltops set the tone early scoring 17 points in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a lopsided victory.  Their offence threw six touchdown passes in the victory while the run game chewed up 237 yards.

Quarterback Trey Reider threw four majors and receivers Drake Douglas and Charlie Molder each threw one.  Molder’s was hauled in by Hayden Day who then went 70 yards for the touchdown.  Corbin Ebben caught four passes, three of them for majors and was also the featured running back in their ground game, recording 140 yards on 18 carries.  Receiver Daniel Fountaine caught two passes in the victory, both for touchdowns.

The defence forced six turnovers and held the Colts to 89 yards rushing.  One of those turnovers was a 31-yard pick-six by Nathan Young.

The Colts scored 16 of their 19 points in the fourth quarter.  Caine Harrison threw touchdown passes to Ryan Pentelichuk and Blaise Newberry and collected 168 yards overall.

Both the Hilltops (3-0) and Colts (1-2) will enjoy the Labour Day weekend bye

Regina Thunder 30
Winnipeg Rifles 0

The Thunder defence was outstanding and didn’t give up much to the visiting Rifles on Sunday holding them to 150 total yards.

Offensively they used the pass to get down the field, then handed it to their running game when they got in tight.  Running back Sadik Sadik scored three touchdowns and gained 133 yards.

Quarterback Carter Moberg found seven different receivers, completed 29 passes on 49 attempts and collected 314 yards in the victory.

This coming weekend the Thunder (3-0) and Rifles (0-3) will enjoy a bye week.

Edmonton Huskies 27
Edmonton Wildcats 8

In the first battle for Edmonton of the season, the Huskies took down the Wildcats with a very balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive showing.

As a matter of fact, the Huskies defence held the Wildcats to 39 yards on the ground and forced seven turnovers highlighted by a 20-yard pick six by Sam Kolkman with time winding down.   Defensive back Owen MacNeil had a massive game with three interceptions, five solo tackles and a knockdown.

Offensively Nolan Baragar rumbled 94 yards and scored a touchdown and quarterback Chris Ioanidis threw a seven-yard TD strike to Sena Mortotsi.

Despite their lack of production on the ground, the Wildcats did find success through the air with 290 yards.  Quarterback Julien Beaulieu found Max Taylor nine times for 160 yards and hit him with a 29-yard touchdown pass, however it wasn’t enough.

This coming weekend both the Huskies (2-1) and Wildcats (0-3) will have enjoy the Labour Day bye week.
