Valley Huskers 8
The Rams outscored the Huskers 14-0 in the final quarter to pull away from the visitors to win their fourth straight game.
In the win, the Rams were extremely balanced offensively rushing for 300 yards behind the 18 carries and 146 yards from Bruce Jones who also scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and Reggie Elie added 69 yards in the win. Through the air quarterback Palaina Hooper completed 14 passes for 264 yards and hit newcomer Gob Deng for a 62-yard touchdown reception.
Defensively they held the Huskers to 90 yards on the ground and recorded three sacks. Ethan Ginogino led the way with seven tackles while Harvey Mahamud and CJ Augustine each picked off a pass.
The Huskers lone touchdown came from backup quarterback Jakob Davies who found Payton Lake for the score. Luc Rodriques led the Huskers passing attack with five receptions for a game high 95 yards.
Next weekend the Rams (4-1) look to continue their winning ways when they host the VI Raiders (1-4). The Huskers (2-3) will enjoy a bye week.
Westshore Rebels 52
VI Raiders 14
The Rebels drew first blood in the Island rivalry after a massive win over the Raiders.
Quarterback Ethan Pickard was great with 24 completions for 251 yards and threw three touchdowns, two of them went to Zion Brown and Ryan Vincent caught the other one. Speaking of Vincent, he rushed for three more touchdowns on 15 carries and finished with four in total. John Boubard rumbled 21 yards for a rushing touchdown as well.
On the defensive side the Rebels forced seven turnovers including four interceptions. Denis Moses intercepted two passes and Gio Linuzzi and Ben Matai had the other picks.
The Raiders were able to score first but couldn’t sustain that momentum. Quarterback Sadler Smith found Ruben Bonsu for the first score of the game. Later in the contest Raiders defensive back Savion Townsend ripped a ball out of the hands of an intended receiver and sprinted 30 yards the other direction for a pick-six.
Next weekend the Rebels (4-1) will have a bye week, and the Raiders (1-4) will visit the Langley Rams (4-1).
Kamloops Broncos 43
Prince George Kodiaks 27
The Broncos got into the win column for the first time this season as their offence went off gathering 536 total yards. Quarterback Clark Snider picked apart the Kodiaks defence with 23 completions, 392 yards and five touchdowns. He found Brock Dufort for a pair of majors and Corey Jeeves, Kaleb Senz and Colton Meikle each had one. Meikle finished with seven receptions for a game high 126 yards and the 50-yard catch and run major in the first quarter.
Jeeves also rushed for a touchdown on five carries and 44 yards.
The three touchdowns the Kodiaks would score were accounted for by quarterback Sawyer Theissen. He rushed for two and hit Carson Briere with a touchdown strike.
Next weekend the Broncos (1-4) will stay on the road and visit the Okanagan Sun (5-0) and the Kodiaks (1-5) will have a bye week.
