The Hurricanes attempting to break a record

This coming Saturday the Hamilton Hurricanes will host their home opener, welcoming the London Beefeaters to Tim Hortons Field, and they have a lofty goal of setting a brand-new attendance record for a regular season game in the Ontario Conference.

The record is 49 years old and was set by the Hurricanes with 3510 fans in 1975.

As part of this initiative, the Hurricanes have partnered with two charities in the Hamilton area.  A portion of the tickets sales will be donated to both Hamilton Out of The Cold and Food 4 Kids Hamilton.

The Hurricanes are also asking fans to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to Hamilton Out of the Cold.  Every fan that brings a non-perishable food item will receive entrance into a draw to “Kick to Win” a two-year lease on a Chevy Silverado 1500 RST truck.

Tickets for the game can be purchased ahead of time by visiting the Hurricanes website.

Hurricanes president Mike Samuel tells Ryan Watters all about this wonderful event.  Watch.
