Offensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
QB Trey Reider – Saskatoon Hilltops

The defending Canadian Bowl champions, the Saskatoon Hilltops picked up right where they left off and took down the Edmonton Huskies to open the season.  Quarterback Trey Reider led the offensive push accounting for three touchdowns, running for two and throwing one as well.  He completed 14 passes during the game for 168 yards and added 47 more on the ground.

BC Conference
RB Jawad Harb – Valley Huskers

Running back Jawad Harb was a one-man machine for the Huskers on Saturday helping them to a lopsided road victory. He carried the rock 19 times for 146 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Defensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
DL Johnathon Stevens – Saskatoon Hilltops

The Hilltops defence held the Huskies run game to just 66 yards on the weekend and a big reason was the line play of Johnathon Stevens.  He created havoc making four tackles, added four assisted stops and got into the backfield to make two sacks.

BC Conference
DB Ahmed Borhot – Okanagan Sun

In the biggest game to date in the BC Conference with first place on the line, defensive back Ahmed Borhot was an absolute ball hawk making three critical interceptions including one on the Rebels final drive to secure the win.  He added three tackles and had an assisted stop as well for the Sun.

Special Teams Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
DB Yve Saintus – Calgary Colts

The Colts captured their first win of the season on the weekend and special teams played a big role led by Yve Saintus.  He was able to find a crease and blow into the backfield to block two kicks setting up his offensive teammates with excellent field position.  He also had a special teams tackle.

BC Conference
KR John Boubard – Westshore Rebels

Special Teams was an important part of the Rebels push to stay undefeated last weekend and John Boubard was simply outstanding.  He returned five punts for 121 yards, averaging 24.2 yards and one kick-off for 23 yards.  In all John’s return average was 24 yards each time he got his hands on the ball.

Now its time to vote for the CJFL Fans Choice Player of the Week.  Polls close at 5:00pm PST on Wednesday.
