The Rebels stay undefeated with a 20-point win over the visiting Kodiaks, making their first stop in Westshore in franchise history.
The second quarter was massive for the Rebels scoring 28 points en route to their victory. In all, the offence tallied 541 total yards and was very balanced. On the ground Carter Williams went off, rushing 171 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns.
Through the air quarterback Ethan Pickard completed 19 passes for 275 yards and threw two touchdowns. His favourite target was Zion Brown who caught eight passes for 121 yards and a touchdown while Linden Williams caught the other touchdown pass.
On the defensive side, Okunlola Oluwaferanmi intercepted a pass and returned it for 21 yards for a touchdown.
Despite the final score, the Kodiaks played tough. They found success through the air as quarterback Sawyer Theissen completed 25 passes for 285 yards and a threw a touchdown pass to Carson Briere. Theissen also ran for a touchdown.
The Kodiaks special teams turned in one of the most exciting plays when Myron Brown returned a kick-off 92 yards for a major.
Next week the Rebels (2-0) will enjoy a bye week and the Kodiaks (1-1) will stay on the road and visit the Langley Rams (0-1).
Okanagan Sun 31
VI Raiders 24
It was an exciting game on the island that the visiting Sun snuck away with a victory, outscoring the Raiders 10-7 in the final frame.
The Raiders had a three-point lead at the half but couldn’t hold the Sun down, who win their second game of the season.
Sun quarterback Liam Kroeger came off the bench and led the Sun back completing 12 of 15 passes for 243 yards and threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Nick Dielissen. On the ground Elelyon Noa was a pillar of strength with three touchdowns on 15 carries for 98 yards.
The Raiders offence was terrific through the air as quarterback Sadler Smith completed 26 passes for 339 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Two receivers stood out and were able to find room in the Sun defence. Ruben Bonsu caught a game-high eight passes for 147 yards and a touchdown and Paul Romanoff caught seven for 112 yards and a score. Smith also rushed eight times and added a touchdown.
Next weekend the Sun (2-0) will visit the Valley Huskers (1-0) and the Raiders (0-2) will play at Kamloops and take on the Broncos (0-2).

The Huskers opened their 2024 schedule in front of their hometown crowd and didn’t disappoint gaining 543 yards of total offence beating the visiting Broncos 51-7.
Through the air quarterback Tyran Duval threw five touchdown passes and 332 yards on 21 completions to lead the way. Four of those touchdown passes were caught by Steven Koniuck while Colby Johnson caught the other. Koniuck was outstanding catching six passes in total for 130 yards and Luc Rodrigues had a solid game as well with five receptions for 101 yards.
On the ground the Huskers recorded 223 yards led by Jawad Harb who rushed 14 times for 127 yards and had two touchdowns.
On the defensive side the Huskers collected five sacks, two of which were recorded by Tyson Hulgan. Jon Banal had a massive game with nine solo tackles and Aidan Harker had seven more.
The Broncos struggled to finish drives all night long. Their lone touchdown came in the second quarter when Ryan Petersen connected with Kaleb Senz on a passing play.
Next weekend the Huskers (1-0) welcome the Okanagan Sun (2-0) and the Broncos (0-2) will host the VI Raiders (0-2).
