The Westshore Rebels have named their new head coach

Fresh off a flawless 10-0 season and securing the BCFC Cullen Cup championship, the Westshore Rebels continue to build on their impressive legacy. The team's recent triumph adds to their remarkable streak of competing in five BC Championship games in the last seven seasons, and competing in two National Championships.

The Rebels' consistent success on the field is a testament to their dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence. As part of this commitment, the Westshore Rebels put out an expression of interest for their vacant head coach position.

The Westshore Rebels in conjunction with their title sponsor, Viking Properties, are thrilled to announce the appointment of Mark Townsend as the team's new Head Coach. Townsend has played at university for both UBC and SFU and has over 20 years of coaching experience. With his experience and passion for the game, Coach Townsend is set to lead the Rebels to another successful season and continue the winning tradition.

Coach Townsend brings a wealth of coaching experience, as well as 19 years managing the Mount Doug Rams football program. He also has a proven track record for winning championships, with nine provincial championships as head coach of the Mt. Doug Rams. Most recently he was coaching football at Kealakehe High School on the Big Island of Hawaii.

“Coach Townsend’s ability to develop and motivate players, makes him the ideal candidate to guide the Westshore Rebels to success. His coaching philosophy aligns perfectly with the organization's commitment to excellence both on and off the field,” says GM Roger Wade.

"We are delighted to welcome Coach Mark Townsend to the Westshore Rebels family. His extensive coaching background, strategic vision, and commitment to player development makes him the perfect fit to lead our team," said Rob Lervold, Westshore Rebels President. "We believe that under Coach Townsend's leadership, the Rebels will continue to achieve great success and provide an exciting brand of football for our loyal fans."

Coach Townsend expressed his excitement about the new role, stating, "I am honoured to join the Westshore Rebels and be part of a team with a rich history and a bright future. I look forward to working with the talented players, coaching staff, and the entire organization to continue to build a winning culture that the community can be proud of."
