By Ryan Watters (@ryan2tswatters), 10/31/23, 6:00AM PDT

The best players from the championship weekend

The CJFL is pleased to announce the Players of the Week following a pair of very exciting playoff games.

Offensive Players of the Week

CJFL National Semi-Final
WR Noah Flaman – Saskatoon Hilltops

The Hilltops used the passing game to move the football down field during the CJFL National Semi-Final game and receiver Noah Flaman took full advantage.  He hauled in three passes for 86 yards including a 51-yard strike for one of his two touchdown receptions.

BC Conference
RB Gerren Hardisty – Westshore Rebels

He was a double threat in the Rebels Cullen Cup championship win on Saturday.  He carried the rock 14 times for a game high 85 yards against a very physical, tough Okanagan Sun defence and scored a third quarter touchdown.  Leaking out of the backfield he also caught two passes for 27 yards as the Rebels secured homefield advantage for the Canadian Bowl.

Defensive Players of the Week

CJFL National Semi-Final
DL Riece Kack – Saskatoon Hilltops

What an individual performance turned in by Riece Kack, setting a new CJFL playoff record with six quarterback sacks in the Hilltops National Semi-Final victory.  He added four tackles, three assisted stops and forced and recovered a fumble.

BC Conference
LB Demar Hohnstein – Westshore Rebels

The BC Conference Defensive Player of the Year in the regular season picked up where he left off causing havoc in the Cullen Cup.  He finished with four tackles but perhaps more importantly picked up a fumble in the third quarter and scampered 20-yards for a touchdown, swinging momentum in the Rebels favour.

Special Teams Players of the Week

CJFL National Semi-Final
KR Boriz Wright – St. Clair Saints

In the loss on Sunday, Boriz Wright was very good returning kicks for the Saints in the cool temperatures during the CJFL National Semi-Final game.  He returned a total of six kicks for 73 yards averaging over 12 yards against the stellar kick coverage of the Hilltops.

BC Conference
KR Cairo Berry – Westshore Rebels

Field position is always so important, but it is magnified in a playoff game and kick returner Cairo Berry played a major factor for the Rebels.  He returned six kicks for 123 yards, averaging over 20 yards a return helping get his offensive teammates into good field position.
