The BC Conference Cullen Cup is Set

The top ranked team in the country, the Westshore Rebels are moving onto the BC Conference Cullen Cup title game after a 40-14 victory over the Langley Rams in the CJFL Canadian Bowl Playoffs.

The Rebels took control in the second quarter scoring 17-points putting the game out of reach for the Rams.   BC Conference Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year quarterback Te Jessie completed 21 of 26 for 240 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for one more.   He found Cairo Berry and CJ Vincent for majors while spreading the ball around finding six different receivers.

On the ground the Rebels chewed up 124 yards and scored twice.  Jessie with his touchdown and Gerren Hardisty scored on 13 carries and gained 70 yards.

Defensively the Rebels forced 10 turnovers, six of which were on downs.  Riley Berfelo had two interceptions and Gio Linuzzi had one.  BC Conference Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year Demar Hohnstein had a big game with two sacks and six tackles.
The Rebels will now host the Okanagan Sun in a rematch of last year’s BC Cullen Cup title game.  The winner hosts the 2023 Canadian Bowl. 

Meanwhile the Rams season comes to a close.  Quarterback Trey Jones threw a touchdown pass to Broxx Comia and Kairo Hassan ran for another in the setback.

The Sun punched their ticket to the BC Conference Cullen Cup title game with a big win over the third seeded Huskers. 

Offensively the Sun were balanced with 332 total yards; 180 through the air and 160 on the ground.  Running back Aidan Wieberg rushed for two touchdowns on 12 carries and gained 101 yards and Elelyon Noa added another major on 12 carries. 

On the defensive side the Sun added to the scoring when Tariq Brown had a 32-yard pick six.  They forced six turnovers in total with Michael Jourdan coming up with an interception, along with five tackles and a knockdown and Jacob Bond had a team high 7.5 tackles.

The Sun will now head to Westshore to battle the Rebels on Saturday for the BC Conference Cullen Cup title game.  The winner hosts the 2023 CJFL Canadian Bowl. 

The Huskers season is over and actually outgained the Sun offensively with 380 yards, mostly passing.  Three quarterbacks combined 367 yards passing with receiver TJ Robertson throwing the lone TD strike on a trick play finding Reece Wyke in the endzone.
