The top players from the BCFC in 2023

The Canadian Junior Football League in conjunction with the BC Conference are proud to announce their Most Outstanding Players for 2023.

Ranji Mattu Memorial Coach of the Year – Dexter Janke – Westshore Rebels – he led his club to their first undefeated season in franchise history.  They have homefield advantage throughout the CJFL Canadian Bowl Playoffs

Outstanding Offensive Lineman – Isaiah Letander – Valley Huskers (second consecutive year)

Outstanding Offensive Back – Te Jessie – Westshore Rebels (second consecutive year) – 150 of 212 for 2453 yards, 41 touchdowns.  He completed 70.8% of his passes, the second-best percentage in CJFL history.

Outstanding Receiver – Kieran Poissant – Westshore Rebels (second consecutive year) – 54 receptions, 849 yards and 13 touchdowns

Outstanding Defensive Lineman – Cam Michaud – Okanagan Sun – 9 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 blocked kick, 4 assisted tackles

Outstanding Linebacker – Demar Hohnstein – Westshore Rebels – 56 solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 4.5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles

Outstanding Defensive Back – Michael Jourdan – Okanagan Sun – 21 tackles, 8 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 assisted tackle 

Outstanding Special Teams Player – KR Cairo Berry – Westshore Rebels – 37 kick returns, for 415 yards averaging 11.5 yards a return and 2 touchdowns

Outstanding Return Specialist – KR Cairo Berry – Westshore Rebels – 37 kick returns, for 415 yards averaging 11.5 yards a return and 2 touchdowns

Outstanding Offensive Rookie of the Year – OL Caleb Cunningham – Okanagan Sun

Outstanding Defensive Rookie of the Year – DB Raiden Mastin – Valley Huskers – 6 tackles, 1 sack, 2 blocked kicks, 1 fumble recover, 1 forced fumble

Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year – LB Demar Hohnstein – Westshore Rebels – 56 solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 4.5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles

The BC Conference opens the Canadian Bowl playoffs on Saturday.  The top ranked Westshore Rebels welcome the #4 seeded Langley Rams, and the defending Canadian Bowl champion and second seeded Okanagan Sun host the #3 Valley Huskers.
