The Hilltops, Thunder and Rifles win

It was a great day at the race track for the Hilltops gaining 309 yards on the ground as they ran the ball at will behind their massive offensive line.

Boston Davidsen was the featured back carrying the rock 24 times for 196 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns.  With each carry he is getting closer and closer to the 1,000-yard plateau and is now less then 100 yards away.  In addition to Davidsen, Charles Sawi rushed for 87 yards and nine carries and got into the endzone. 

Through the air the Hilltops were not as dominant, but still found great success.  Quarterback Trey Reider threw for 170 yards on 21 carries and hit Drake Douglas twice for touchdowns.

Their defence forced six turnovers highlighted by a pair of interceptions from Dalton Urban. 

The Huskies lone points came in the first quarter when quarterback Carson Neitz punched his way in the endzone.  

They were busy on the defensive side, particularly Sheldon McNabb who collected an impressive 11.5 tackles and Sean Kolkman had two interceptions.

This coming weekend the Hilltops (6-0) host the Regina Thunder (5-1) in what should determine first place in the Conference while the Huskies (3-3) visit the Winnipeg Rifles (2-4).

The Thunder blew the game open in the second quarter scoring 21 points en route to their fifth win of the season, using the ground game to perfection.

The club ran for 391 yards on Sunday behind a two-headed monster.  Ryland Leichert rushed 22 times for 199 yards and had two touchdowns while Justin Reiger galloped 146 yards on 10 carries and had a score.

A pair of Thunder quarterbacks, Carter Moberg and Ethan Hugg each threw two touchdown passes and combined for 141 yards.  Isaiah Woodley, Austin Wood, Jaden Litzenberger and Carson Derksen all had touchdown receptions. 

Defensively the Thunder held the Colts down and forced five turnovers. Branden Janotta, Adam King and Devin Baumann each had an interception. 

The Colts who were without their QB1 scored their only touchdown on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Caine Harrison to Seth Famakinde.  

This coming weekend the Thunder (5-1) will visit their rival the Saskatoon Hilltops (6-0) and the Colts (2-4) will head to Edmonton to face the Wildcats (0-6).

The Rifles defence pitched a shutout holding the Wildcats offence to 111 yards and only 66 on the ground.   They forced four turnovers and even added to the scoring when Carson Cadieux blocked a punt, picked up the loose ball and rushed 12 yards for a touchdown. 

The offence was led by running back Kaiden Banfield who rushed 27 times for 148 yards and scored three touchdowns to secure the Rifles second win of the campaign. 

This weekend the Rifles (2-4) will host the Edmonton Huskies (3-3) and the Wildcats (0-6) will search for answers when they host the Calgary Colts (2-4).
