The CJFL is pleased to announce the Week 7 Players of the Week after some incredible individual performances last weekend.
Offensive Players of the Week
QB Maurice Sodja – St. Clair Saints
In winning his second offensive player of the week award, Sodja’s performance on Saturday was the definition of “efficiency”. In limited action in the Saints impressive win over the visiting Hurricanes, Sodja was nearly perfect as he completed 7 of 8 passes for 193 yards and five touchdowns for an incredible quarterback efficiency rating of 383.854 for the game. If that wasn’t enough, Sodja ran the ball six times for 66 yards before calling it a night.
WR Nicholas Sirleaf – Calgary Colts
The Calgary Colts recorded their first win of the season last weekend, and their aerial assault was a major factor. Receiver Nicholas Sirleaf hauled in a game high 11 passes for 159 yards and had a touchdown. As an honourable mention, quarterback Liam Ozkowski also took over as the Conference’s leader in pasting yards with another 346 yards against Winnipeg.
RB Gerren Hardisty – Westshore Rebels
The Rebels offensive line again dominated the trenches this past weekend and running back Gerren Hardisty took advantage. He galloped 15 times for 154 yards and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns for the undefeated Rebels.
Defensive Players of the Week
DL Carl Fabre – St. Clair Saints
In a very physical game, Carl Fabre was an uncontrollable beast that seemingly lived in the Hurricanes' backfield where he terrorized the Hamilton quarterbacks as he compiled four sacks, had a tackle for loss and two assisted tackles for 16 defensive points.
LB Matt Wist – Saskatoon Hilltops
The linebacker had perhaps the timeliest interception of the weekend, climbing the ladder to steal away a potential completion to a wide-open receiver behind him. His pick came at a critical time in the game in Regina helping his Hilltops remain undefeated. He also added a pair of tackles, a knockdown and had an assisted stop.
LB Demar Hohnstein – Westshore Rebels
Saturday afternoon the Rebels defence was suffocating and held the Valley Huskers to a very quiet day. Linebacker Demar Hohnstein once again showed he is one of the best in the BC Conference with 2.5 sacks, along with three tackles and three assisted stops.
Special Teams Players of the Week
DB Dylan Roberts – London Beefeaters
In capturing his second special teams player of the week award this season, Dylan Roberts was an absolute kick covering demon recording four solo special teams tackles as he suffocated the Skyhawks’ returners all day.
LB Kyler Banfield – Winnipeg Rifles
What a game on specials for Kyler Banfield! He blocked a kick and recovered it, had three special teams tackles, and assisted on another.

Raiden was outstanding on special teams this past weekend against the top ranked Westshore Rebels. He blocked a kick, made three special teams tackles and assisted on another one.
