The Sun, Rebels and Huskers claim a win

Down 12-10 at the half, the Okanagan Sun rallied and scored 27 unanswered points and pitched a second half shutout to claim their third straight win.  

Offensively quarterback Liam Kroeger was solid completing 19 passes for 194 yards and threw a touchdown to Ethan Marshall.  He also rushed for two majors on eight carries and 39 yards.  Aiden Wieberg galloped 145 yards on 16 carries and had a touchdown. 

Defensively Michael Jordan intercepted a pair of passes, Destin Croft had a sack and they forced five turnovers.

The Broncos did all their damage in the first half with quarterback Clark Snider throwing touchdown passes to Nick Welcher and Colton Meikle. 

Next week the Sun (3-0) will play their third straight home game when they host the Langley Rams (1-1) and the Broncos (0-2) stay on the road and head to Prince George for a game with the Kodiaks (0-2).

The Rebels continue to roll with another offensive outpouring to the tune of 495 yards of total offence in their first ever game against the Kodiaks. Quarterback Te Jessie threw for another 271 yards and five more touchdowns finding Kieran Poissant for three of them and 118 yards.  Jessie also ran for a touchdown as did Gerren Hardisty who rushed 13 times for 128 yards. 

Defensively the Rebels didn’t allow any points until the fourth quarter.   They collected five sacks, with Praise Odogun getting two of them and as a team forced six turnovers. 

The Kodiaks scored all 10 of their points in the final frame highlighted by a touchdown pass from quarterback Quinn Nuekomm to Kayle Crowley. 

Next week the Rebels (3-0) will enjoy a bye week while the Kodiaks (0-2) welcome the Kamloops Broncos (0-2).

VI Raiders 24

Huskers’ quarterback Tyran Duval was on fire on Saturday afternoon as he led his club with 496 yards through the air on 28 completions and connected on six touchdown passes.   A total of 12 different receivers caught passes with Steve Koniuk, Josh Caverly, Brandon Halsey, Tyson George-Kelly and Reece Wyke each getting into the endzone.   Wyke also ran one in.

In all the Huskers offence gained an incredible 705 yards, 545 through the air and 180 on the ground. 

The defence also got in on the scoring when Wilclair Neufeld returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown.   They forced six turnovers. 

Return man Ethan Porter tallied yet another touchdown with an 85-yard kick-off return to the house. 

The Raiders fall for the third straight game but had their biggest offensive output gaining 424 yards.  Quarterback Ben Chomolok completed 17 passes for 245 yards and threw touchdowns to Hayden Day and Harman Ahuja.  He also rushed nine times and scored a third touchdown. 

The defense was on the field for a long time.  George Okorie had an impressive four sacks and Nathan Haluik tallied 10 tackles. 

Next week is the second half of a home-and-home when the Huskers (2-1) host the Raiders (0-3).
