Week 2 of the CJFL season saw the three home teams dismantle their opponents with lopsided victories.

Okanagan Sun 62
Valley Huskers 6

The defending champs dominated during their home opener in every facet of the game and their defence pitched a second half shutout.   Romario Reid led the way with a team high six tackles, picked off a pass, and blocked a punt, recovered it and ran it back for a touchdown.  Michael Jordan also intercepted pass and Greyson Statham had the lone sack.

Offensively the Sun scored five touchdowns; Kyle Dennis, Tristan Peddle and Liam Kroeger each had one on the ground while Kroeger and Hunter Norman each threw a major, caught by Jaxon Linn and Josh Guenther.

The Huskers didn’t have much of an answer scoring their lone touchdown in the second quarter on a one-yard plunge by TJ Robertson.

Next week the Sun (2-0) will host the Kamloops Broncos (0-1) and the Huskers (1-1) will stay on the road and visit the VI Raiders (0-2).

Westshore Rebels 70
Kamloops Broncos 10

The Rebels also had their home opener on Saturday afternoon and completely demolished the Broncos, scoring all 70 points in the first three quarters.

Receiver Cairo Berry had an unbelievable game catching four touchdown passes and gained 116 yards on seven receptions.  Zion Brown hauled in a pair of majors and CJ Vincent caught one as well.  Quarterback Te Jessie threw five of those touchdowns on 13 of 17 passes for 230 yards, and back-up Ethan Pickard threw two of them.

The defence picked off three passes, none bigger than a 42-yard pick six from Bronson Pheiffer.  Demar Hohnstein had a great game with nine tackles and Ty Ochitwa and Ashton Lepard each had a sack.

The Broncos lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Josh Charison found Colton Meikle for the score.

Next weekend the Rebels (2-0) will head up to Prince George to face the Kodiaks (0-1) and the Broncos (0-1) will visit the Okanagan Sun (2-0).

Langley Rams 54
VI Raiders 3

The Rams came out swinging in their home opener and scored 42 of their points in the first half completely blasting the Raiders.

Quarterback Trey Jones was outstanding completing 11 of 12 passes for 260 yards and threw five touchdowns.  Back-up Max Bougie also threw a touchdown and 122 yards as both pivots combined for 382 yards through the air.  Isaiah Edwards, Terrel Jones and Broxx Comia each caught two touchdown receptions and Kairo Hassan ran one in.

The defence forced six turnovers including interceptions by Drew Lirag, Kyle Huish and Owen Merry.  They also pitched a shutout over the final three quarters of play.

On the other side the Raiders lone points came from a 21-yard field goal from kicker Carter Houghton in the first quarter.

Next weekend the Rams (1-1) will enjoy a bye week, while the Raiders (0-2) head back home to host the Valley Huskers (1-1).
