The best from Week 1 of the CJFL season

In conjunction with the BC Conference, the CJFL is proud to announce the Players of the Week following an exciting opening weekend of the new season.

Offensive Player of the Week
QB Te Jessie – Westshore Rebels

The reigning CJFL Offensive Player of the Year, quarterback Te Jessie began this season with another dominating performance.  He led his Westshore Rebels team to a lopsided 69-0 victory over their Island rivals on Saturday afternoon.  He threw for 164 yards on 10 of 16 passing and connected on five touchdown passes playing in only the first half. He also rushed twice for 13 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week
LB Jaiden Claassen – Valley Huskers

It was a nice home win for the Valley Huskers this past weekend to open up the new CJFL season.  The Huskers defeated their closest rival, the Langley Rams 26-18 and All-Canadian linebacker Jaiden Claassen played an important role.  He made six solo tackles and had a pair of assisted stops and his ability to get penetration disrupted the Rams offensive push.

Special Teams Player of the Week
K/P Liam Attwood – Okanagan Sun

The defending national champions continue to roll collecting a shutout win in Prince George on the weekend.  Placekicker Liam Attwood accounted for 12 of the 32 points the Okanagan Sun would score.  He connected on all three field goal attempts hitting from 31, 32 and 33 yards away and was a perfect 3-3 in converts.
