To say the Westshore Rebels dominated on Saturday night would be an understatement.  They completely dismantled the Raiders in all facets of the game, scoring 42 points in the first quarter alone.

Offensively the Rebels outgained the Raiders in total offensive yards by 503-92.  Nine different receivers caught a pass from two different quarterbacks as they gained 268 yards and threw for six touchdowns.  The reigning CJFL Offensive Player of the Year Te Jessie completed 10 of those passes for 164 yards and five majors.

Cairo Berry caught a pair of those touchdowns and ran back a punt 61 yards for another score.

On the ground the Rebels galloped to 248 yards and three more touchdowns, compared to the Raiders who gathered 41 rushing yards.  Gerren Hardisty led the way with 122 yards on seven carries and had a touchdown.

The Rebels defence was clearly impressive and only allowed one Raider first down in the second half.

Next week the Rebels (1-0) will host the Kamloops Broncos (0-0) while the Raiders (0-1) visit the Langley Rams (0-1).

Langley Rams 18

The closest game of the weekend was in Chilliwack where the Huskers held off a late charge by the Rams for their first victory of the season.

The Huskers scored touchdowns in unconventional ways with Christopher Rolack III turning in an incredible game.  He returned a kick-off 101 yards for a major and on the defensive side intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown.

On the ground Reece Wyke controlled the line of scrimmage with 123 yards on 19 carries and scored the Huskers other touchdown.

The Rams scored four points in the first half but made halftime adjustments and came alive in the second half making the final close.  Quarterback Trey Jones threw a pair of touchdowns on 11 completions finding Isaiah Edward and Gill Armann Jr.  In the end the Rams offence outgained the Huskers 368-319.

This Saturday night the Huskers (1-0) visit the Okanagan Sun (1-0) while the Rams (0-1) play their home opener hosting the VI Raiders (0-1) at 4:00pm.

Okanagan Sun 32
Prince George Kodiaks 0

The defending national champion Sun seemingly picked up right where they left off shutting out the Kodiaks and their former head coach 32-0 on Saturday night to open their title defence.

They dominated in all facets of the game recording 457 total offensive yards and holding the Kodiaks to four first downs, all in the second half.   Adam Wiber led the ground assault with 102 yards on nine carries while Tristan Peddle scored a pair of touchdowns, one on the ground, the other through the air.   Nine different receivers made receptions in the rain in Prince George.

On the defensive side the Sun held the Kodiaks to 18 yards on the ground and collected two sacks.

This coming weekend the Sun (1-0) will host their home opener when they welcome the Valley Huskers (1-0) on Saturday night, while the Kodiaks (0-1) have a bye.
