Teams can now sign up to 10 players with the Letter of Intent

It’s the unofficial kick-off to the 2023 season!

As of February 1st, all CJFL teams are able to sign up to 10 players to their upcoming roster with a “Letter of Intent,” (LOI).   Once an LOI is signed the player agrees, should they play in the CJFL for the 2023 season, they are bound to that team which is stipulated in the LOI agreement.

Before entering the LOI agreement the player signing cannot already be committed to another team or on a protected list within the CJFL.

If a player decides not to continue with that particular team after signing the LOI, they can be released from that commitment by the team.  However the team does not have to agree to release that player until the LOI expires on the 15th of September.

These LOIs are used by teams for several different reasons, the main one is to obviously sign a big recruit and have a commitment to their roster for that season.  Signing an important recruit can also encourage other players to give that team serious consideration if they are on the fence of which CJFL team to join.

The LOIs began several years ago in the BC Conference, but now all 19 teams take advantage of getting a commitment before National Signing Day on June 1st.

Follow along on social media to see which players have agreed to an LOI for the upcoming CJFL season.
