The Prairie Conference announced their Most Outstanding Players and Coach of the Year for the 2022 season as a build up to the Prairie Conference final on Sunday.
Prairie Conference Outstanding Players:
Coach of the Year – Scott MacAulay – Regina Thunder (second consecutive year). He led the Thunder to their second straight undefeated regular season and now home field advantage throughout the Prairie Conference playoffs.
Outstanding Offensive Lineman – Connor Klassen – Regina Thunder
Outstanding Running Back – Alex Gayle – Edmonton Huskies (second consecutive season) – 150 carries for 923 yards, averaging 6.15 yards a carry and 10 touchdowns
Outstanding Receiver – Isaac Foord – Regina Thunder – 40 receptions for 638 yards and 8 touchdowns
Outstanding Quarterback – Carter Shewchuk – Regina Thunder (second consecutive season) – 157 of 250 (63%), 2351 yards, 18 touchdowns, 104.3 passer efficiency rating
Outstanding Defensive Lineman – Reece McCormick – Regina Thunder – 16 tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 3 sacks (added 4 in the Conference semi-final)
Outstanding Linebacker – Konner Johnson – Saskatoon Hilltops – 28 tackles, 12 assisted tackles, 2 sacks, 5 knockdowns, 4 interceptions
Outstanding Defensive Back – Damien Bucknor – Calgary Colts - 31 tackles, 7 assisted tackles, 1 forced fumble, 2 interceptions
Outstanding Special Teams Player – Eric Maximuik – Regina Thunder (second consecutive season) – 8 of 15 (53%) field goals, 34 punts averaging 35.7 yards
Rookie of the Year – Charles Sawi – Saskatoon Hilltops - 25 carries for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also returned five missed field goals for 271 yards and one touchdown of 125 yards
Most Valuable Player – Alex Gayle – Edmonton Huskies - 150 carries for 923 yards, averaging 6.15 yards a carry and 10 touchdowns

Sunday the Regina Thunder will host the Saskatoon Hilltops in the Prairie Conference final with the winner hosting the Canadian Bowl on November 12th.
