Welcome to the Prairie Conference playoffs

#3 Edmonton Huskies @ #2 Saskatoon Hilltops - Sunday October 23, 1:00pm – SMF Field | WATCH HERE

It’s a rematch of last year’s Conference semi-final when the Hilltops welcome the Huskies with a berth in the Conference title game on the line.  Last year the Hilltops snuck by the Huskies 33-31.

They played just once during the regular season, way back on August 21st when the Hilltops claimed a 38-10 win in Saskatoon. With that victory the Hilltops claimed homefield advantage for this very playoff game. That afternoon the passing attack and run game each gained 212 yards, as Damon Dutton threw a pair of touchdown passes and Charles Sawi scored two more majors on the ground.

Offensively these teams are fairly even averaging around 30-points a game.  On the defensive side however, the Hilltops have a clear advantage.   They are the stingiest defence in the Conference allowing 16-points a game while the Huskies cough up 26 a contest.

Both teams like to run the ball behind their big, talented offensive lines.  The top two running backs in the Conference will be featured: Alex Gayle for the Huskies and 1000-yard rusher Boston Davidsen for the Hilltops.  It will be a very physical game in the trenches as each line fights for positioning.

Recently the Hilltops-Huskies playoff matchups have been clearly one-sided.  As a matter of fact, the Huskies haven’t beaten the Hilltops in the postseason since 2006 when they beat them 35-27 victory.
