The very best from Week 13 of the CJFL season

This past weekend the BC and Ontario Conferences opened their playoffs while the Prairie Conference wrapped up their regular season. Now it’s time to announce the CJFL Football Canada Players of the Week.

Offensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
RB Boston Davidsen – Saskatoon Hilltops

The Saskatoon Hilltops clinched a home playoff date after a convincing victory on Sunday powered by their running attack.  Boston Davidsen led the charge with 146 yards on 16 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns as the Hilltops gathered 355 total rushing yards.

Ontario Conference
QB Andrew Brush – St. Clair Saints

In earning his second Player of the Week award on the season, All-Star Andrew Brush had the Saints offense running on all cylinders against the Hurricanes. In completing 14 of 20 passes for 325 yards, Brush spread the ball around to eight different receivers.  He also kept the Hamilton defence off balance by rushing the ball six times for 34 yards and another touchdown.

BC Conference
WR Colby Milleto – Okanagan Sun

In his first playoff game with the Okanagan Sun, receiver Colby Milleto doubled his touchdown total from the regular season in a single game.  He caught five passes for 97 yards and four touchdowns including two in the second quarter to propel the Sun into the Cullen Cup championship game this coming weekend.

Defensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
LB Stephen Smith – Regina Thunder

The Thunder completed an undefeated regular season after a lopsided win on the weekend and their defence was outstanding.  Linebacker Stephen Smith led the way and was an absolute beast making four tackles, 1.5 sacks, he had an interception, forced and recovered a fumble, had a knockdown and two assisted tackles.

Ontario Conference
LB Connor Crozier – London Beefeaters

Helping to ensure the two-time defending Ontario champs would once again be competing for the Conference title, Connor Crozier was a tackling machine for the home team.  He collected nine tackles while also contributing half of a sack.

BC Conference
DL Kelon Thomas – Okanagan Sun

The Sun defence played a solid semi-final on Saturday and their All-Star defensive lineman led the way.  Kelon Thomas collected a pair of sacks, six tackles and was an overall nuisance pressuring the Langley Rams on virtually every snap.  The Rams needed to insert an extra offensive lineman just to try and slow him down…it didn’t work.

Special Teams Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
LB Devin Baumann – Regina Thunder

Not only did the Regina Thunder get a great game from their offence and defence, but special teams was also a critical piece on route to their eighth win of the season.  Their coverage team was outstanding led by Devin Baumann who set a new CJFL record of five special teams tackles.

Ontario Conference
K/P AJ Williamson – London Beefeaters

As he has done all season long, the Ontario Conference All-Star kicker proved to be a field position weapon for the Beefeaters.  Williamson average 57 yards on his six kickoffs and 39.7 yards on his punts adding a single on one of them.  He also booted one FG and was a perfect 4-4 in convert attempts.

BC Conference
KR Kemarr Bishop – Okanagan Sun

When the Okanagan Sun needed to win back some field position, return Kemarr Bishop answer the bell in a big way.  He averaged over 16-yards on his five punt returns and just before halftime returned a kick 61-yards for a touchdown putting the game out of reach.  He added one kick-off return for 25-yards.
