The Ontario Conference announced their Most Outstanding Players and Coach of the Year for the 2022 season as a build up to the Conference playoffs this coming weekend.
Ontario Conference Outstanding Players:
Coach of the Year – Kevin Ling – Ottawa Sooners – his club returned to the CJFL for the first time since 2019 and he led them to the Conference playoffs as the third seed
Outstanding Offensive Lineman – Corey Levesque – St. Clair Saints
Outstanding Defensive Lineman – Dylan Clarke – London Beefeaters - 23 tackles, 9 assists, 6.5 sacks, 1 blocked kick, 5 knockdowns, 2 fumble recoveries with 1 for a touchdown
Alex Stajic Memorial Special Teams – Kicker – AJ Williamson – London Beefeaters – he was 19 of 25 in field goals, 76% with his longest being 49 yards, 21 of 22 in coverts along with punting 49 times for an average of 33.6 yards with four singles
Outstanding Return Specialist – Dante Lewis – St. Clair Saints (second consecutive season) – 16 punt returns for 336 yards and two touchdowns. He collected other touchdown on eight kick returns and 224 yards
Offensive Rookie of the Year – Quarterback – Owen Cowan – Ottawa Sooners - 92 of 172 for 1254 yards, 53.5% completions and 9 touchdowns
Defensive Rookie of the Year – Linebacker – Zachary Chaddock – Hamilton Hurricanes – 36 tackles, 10 assisted stops, 0.5 sack, 2 knockdowns, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception
Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year – Linebacker – Isaiah Joseph – Hamilton Hurricanes (pictured) - 43 tackles, 11 assists, 1 sack, 2 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception
Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year* – Receiver – Jared Hayes-Williams – St. Clair Saints - 33 receptions for 617 yards and 6 touchdowns
Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year* – Running Back – Taz Bell – London Beefeaters - 86 carries for 554 yards and three touchdowns
Bill Prest Community Service Award – Kevin Ricard – London Beefeaters
This Saturday the #1 seeded St. Clair Saints host the #4 Hamilton Hurricanes while the defending Ontario champion and #2 seeded London Beefeaters welcome the #3 Ottawa Sooners. The winners will play for the Conference title.
