A quick rewind of the three games in the Prairie Conference from this weekend.

Regina Thunder 29
Winnipeg Rifles 23

The Thunder came back to outscore the Rifles 20-7 in the second half on route to their sixth win of the season.  In fact, those seven points from the Rifles came with 32 seconds remaining to bring the game to within six points.

Offensively the Thunder were again very balanced with 493 total yards. Quarterback Carter Shewchuk threw for 287 yards and had touchdown passes to Isaiah Woodley and Isaac Foord.  Running back Ryland Leichert rumbled 17 times for 92 yards and a score.

On the defensive side Reed Rabbetz had two sacks and Matthew Schill had a team high eight solo tackles in the win.

The Rifles scored 16 of their 23 points in the first half but didn’t have much push back in the second half and had their three-game win streak snapped. Quarterback Bryson McNeil was again solid with 25 completions for 329 yards and three touchdowns.   He found Eric Adams, Luke McMillan and Everett Findley for those TD completions.

This coming Sunday the Thunder (6-0) visit the Calgary Colts (2-4) and the Rifles (3-3) shoot into Edmonton to face the Huskies (4-2).

Saskatoon Hilltops 35
Calgary Colts 17

The Hilltops snapped their three-game slide scoring 25 of their points in the first half.

Their offence was led again by their run game galloping to 269 yards. Boston Davidsen carried 19 times for 144 yards and had a touchdown.  Carter McLean added 70 yards on only eight carries. Through the air quarterback Trey Reider got his first start of the season and looked good completing 16 passes for 191 yards and threw three touchdown passes: a pair to Noah Flaman and one to Dillan Heintz.

Defensively Matt Wist was outstanding with six tackles and an interception he returned for 12 yards.  Wist’s interception wasn’t the only one on the day as the Hilltops D collected four picks in total.

The Colts scored two touchdowns on the afternoon.  Quarterback Isaiah Klein threw his first of the year when he hit Adley Mayala on a five-yard strike.  Justin Verloop also scored a touchdown on a one-yard plunge.

On Sunday the Hilltops (3-3) will play in Edmonton against the Wildcats (0-6) and the Colts (2-4) welcome the Regina Thunder (6-0).

Edmonton Huskies 48
Edmonton Wildcats 14

Everything was clicking for the Huskies on Saturday as they picked apart the Wildcats for their fourth win of the season and a series sweep.

Quarterback Jordan Lane threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns finding Jemanie Watkis, Alex Gayle and Jordan Howe.  Speaking of Gayle, he also led the charge on the ground with a touchdown and 94 yards.  Epharh Oyama and Christian Pulis each scored a major on the ground to add to the offensive outpouring.

The defence collected six sacks, two of them by Tristian Fournier.  They forced four turnovers including an interception from Cedric McCallum who then returned it 27 yards.

On the other hand, the Wildcats found it difficult to score and got into the endzone only once on a run by back-up quarterback Devin Desormeau.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Wildcats (0-6) who host the Saskatoon Hilltops (3-3) on Sunday, while the Huskies (4-2) welcome the Winnipeg Rifles (3-3) in a massive game.
