The Okanagan Sun clinched first place in the BC Conference on Saturday with a dominating win over the Langley Rams at the Apple Bowl.   They used an 18-point first quarter and never looked back.

Offensively the ground game led the attack as Jevan Garwood gobbled up 166 yards on 11 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns.  Tristen Peddle added a TD on his three carries and 34 yards.  Through the air quarterback Dominic Britton completed 10 passes for 119 yards and hit Mike O’Shea and Noah Bymak for touchdowns.

On the defence the Sun didn’t give up much allowing just 43 yards on the ground.  They tallied three sacks, two of them by Devon Guy and they forced five turnovers including a pair of interceptions by Garret Cape.

The Rams scored eight of their 10 points in the fourth quarter with their lone touchdown being a passing play from quarterback Trey Jones to receiver Beckham Dickie.

Next weekend the Sun (8-0) will play in Kamloops against the Broncos (4-4) while the Rams (4-5) will play their final game of the regular season at home against the Prince George Kodiaks (1-7).

Kamloops Broncos 14
Prince George Kodiaks 9

It was a lower scoring affair on Saturday in Prince George as the Broncos kicked four field goals, tallied a safety and the defence didn’t give up points until the fourth quarter in the road win.

Kicker Cam Grzegorczyk booted field goals of 12, 20, 24 and 25 yards to tally 12 of the Broncos 14 points in his kicking debut for the visitors.

Their defence played well as Maurice Onyeamenu was outstanding leading the way with eight solo tackles and two sacks.   As a group they forced three turnovers.

The Kodiaks scored the lone touchdown of the game which happened in the fourth quarter on a run by Quinn Neukomm.

This coming weekend the Broncos (4-4) host the Okanagan Sun (8-0) and the Kodiaks visit the Langley Rams (4-5).

Westshore Rebels 47
VI Raiders 28

It was a back-and-forth game in the first half as both teams seemed to be able to score at will as they went into the locker room with the Rebels leading 24-21.  However, the second half was a different story with the Rebels taking control and outscored the Raiders 23-7 the rest of the way.

Rebels’ quarterback Te Jessie continues to make a bid for the Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year throwing another four touchdowns and ran for another one.  He completed 22 passes for 391 yards and rushed seven times for another 63 yards.   Receiver Cairo Berry had a great game making four receptions for 129 yards and two scores.

On the defensive side the Rebels held the Raiders to just 36 yards but had a difficult time stopping the passing attack.  Raiders quarterback Ben Chomolok threw for 333 yards and a pair of touchdowns finding Dylan Pye and Jello Jutaculo.

Tyler Ruck was a bright spot for the Raiders on the defensive side making a game high seven solo tackles and had an interception.

This coming weekend the Rebels (6-2) will visit the Valley Huskers (5-3) in an important game while the Raiders (1-8) have a bye week.
