Scoring was plentiful in the BC Conference this past weekend.

The top ranked Sun showed they could battle from behind and comeback to win a ballgame, scoring 14 points in the final quarter, on the road to roar back to beat a very solid Rebels team.

It was the Rebels that came out flying and scored 14 points in the first quarter, then held a 21-13 lead at halftime.   After the break however the momentum shifted and saw the Sun outscore the home side 21-10 to capture their sixth victory of the campaign.

Offensively the Sun running attack was very good gathering 213 yards led by Jevon Garwood who collected 172 of those yards on 24 carries and scored a touchdown.  Quarterback Dominic Britton also scampered to a major on four carries.  Through the air he completed 11 passes for 182 yards and connected on three touchdowns finding Mike O’Shea, Noah Bymak and Colby Miletto from 10-yards out.

Defensive lineman Kelon Thomas was a beast on Saturday afternoon with 2.5 sacks, two tackles and blocked a kick.  Aiden Hennessey had 1.5 sacks and Tyler Going picked off a pass in the win.

The Rebels offence found success through the air as quarterback Te Jessie completed 18 passes for 306 yards and added four touchdowns, two of them to Kierran Poissant.  Cairo Berry hauled in another, and Zion Brown made four catches for 101 yards and a score. 

Next week the Sun (6-0) will host the Valley Huskers (5-2) and Rebels (5-2) will enjoy a bye week.

The Rams got back to their winning ways in Prince George on Saturday night with a very balanced game on both sides of the ball.

Defensively the Rams held the Kodiaks to 172 yards of total offence and only 44 on the ground.   They didn’t allow points in the second or third quarters and Denis Moses intercepted a pass.

Offensively the third quarter was the Rams best, scoring 21 of their 43 points in that frame.  Quarterback Trey Jones had his best game of the year completing 20 passes for 309 yards and threw four touchdowns.  He found Gabriel Fenelon, Aaron Linden, Terrel Jones and Ryan Goeson for majors with Jones hauling in a game high seven passes for 91 yards. 

On the ground Derek Best was great with nine carries for 94 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns. 

The Kodiaks scores came from the air when Sam Sabine found Andrew Brown and, on the ground, when Quinn Neukomm crossed the goal line.

Next weekend the Rams (3-4) will visit the VI Raiders (1-6) and the Kodiaks (1-5) head to Kamloops for a date with the Broncos (2-4).

There was plenty of scoring in Nanaimo on Saturday afternoon as the Huskers win their fifth of the season after collecting 645 yards of total offence. 

Quarterback Josh Janssen had a career day completing 25 passes for 407 yards and an incredible seven touchdowns.   He hit Luc Rodrigues three times for majors and found Ethan Porter, Dhag Mora, Reece Wyke and Dylan Manocha for the others.  Speaking of Wyke he rushed for 166 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground. 

The Huskers scored 41 of their 62 points in the first half setting a team record in the process. 

Despite the lopsided score the Raiders continued to fight and scored 27 points in the fourth quarter showing heart.  

Quarterback Ben Chomolok threw for 287 yards and four touchdowns finding Maren Bradbrook and Hayden Day each twice.  He also ran for a pair of touchdowns and 59 yards in total. 

This coming weekend the Huskers (5-2) visit the Okanagan Sun (6-0) in an interesting game while the Raiders (1-6) host the Langley Rams (3-4).
