Travis Miller named the head coach of the Sun

The Okanagan Sun have announced their new head coach to lead the team into the 2022 CJFL season and beyond.  Former player Travis Miller takes over after Jamie Boreham stepped down last week.

Miller was the offensive coordinator in 2021 as the Sun compiled a 7-1 regular season record scoring a BC Conference high 360 points, averaging 45 points each game.   He saw running back Malcolm Miller achieve CJFL greatness winning the league’s rushing title with 1360 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was named the CJFL Offensive Player of the Year becoming the first Sun player to be honoured since 2004.

The new head coach was an offensive lineman for the Sun playing five seasons from 2005-2009.  He moved onto play at Acadia University in Nova Scotia from 2010-2011 then returned to his hometown of Grande Prairie.  He decided to get into coaching and started at his alma mater guiding the Grande Prairie Composite High School Warriors. He took on the role of head coach and offensive coordinator and helped the school to a Tier 1 Provincial Bronze medal.
