The Okanagan Sun finished the eight-game regular season in 2021 with seven wins and had the highest scoring offence in the BC Conference.   They fell to the eventual Canadian Bowl champion Langley Rams in the Cullen Cup final.

The Sun have graduated several key pieces from last year’s team, here is the Grad Class of 2021:

DL James Stockwood – he was an All-Canadian in 2021 gathering 16 tackles, had 1.5 sacks and had a knockdown

DL Kelon Thomas – a BC Conference All-Star who collected 7 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 1 knockdown and forced a fumble.  He will play at a junior college in Texas in 2022

OL Daniel Townsend – he was an All-Canadian for the second consecutive season and will be sorely missed in the trenches in 2022

OL Newton Benson – he was the anchor on the offensive line blowing open running lanes for a potent running attack

RB Malcolm Miller – he won the CJFL rushing title with 1360 yards on 160 carries and had a BC Conference high 11 touchdowns

OL Liam Hamlyn – as the centre he was a key part on the offensive line and leaves big shoes to fill

WR Matthew Uriah – his size gave defensive backs issues when matching up at the line of scrimmage.  In 2021 he made four receptions for 71 yards, averaging 17.8 yards a catch

DB/KR Donovin Small – his speed gave him an advantage in the secondary as well as returning kicks.  He returned six punts for 130 yards and had a 54-yard return for a touchdown.  He also intercepted a pair of passes, made 12 tackles, blocked a kick and collected three knockdowns

LB Matteo Marino – he compiled nine solo tackles, had five assisted stops, two interceptions, forced a fumble and recovered one

DB Cole Stregger – he was an important piece to the Sun defence in 2021 that gave up the second fewest points in the Conference

DB Jacob Stokker – his leadership qualities will be missed by the Sun in 2022
