CFL Combine Invites

A total of 10 CJFL players have been invited

The Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) in conjunction with the CFL are pleased to announce the following players who played in the CJFL in 2021 have been invited to a Regional Combine being held next month with each player trying to earn an invitation to the CFL National Combine.

The Ontario Regional Combine will take place on March 10th at the University of Waterloo, then the Eastern Regional Combine is set for March 11th and the Western Regional Combine in Edmonton on March 18th.

A total of 10 CJFL players have been invited and include:

RB Taz Bell – London Beefeaters – in 2021 he led the Beefeaters to their second straight Ontario Conference title and the team’s first ever berth in the CJFL Canadian Bowl.  He rushed 53 times for 421 yard and had three touchdowns.  He was named a Conference All-Star for the second time and will be attending the Ontario Combine.

LB Cornelius Brown Jr. – Quinte Skyhawks – he was one of the best players for the newly expanded Skyhawks in 2021 and was named a Conference All-Star.  He tallied 36 tackles, had two assisted tackles, a knockdown, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and had an interception.  He will attend the Ontario Combine.

DL Austin Daisy – Calgary Colts – he was dominating for the Colts in 2021 and was named the CJFL Defensive Player of the Year and an All-Canadian.   He led the CJFL with 55 solo tackles, added 14 assisted tackles, 2.5 sacks, had a knockdown, a forced fumble and even returned an interception 52-yards.  He will attend the Western Combine in Edmonton.

RB Alex Gayle - Edmonton Huskies - he won the Prairie Conference rushing title with 149 carries for 927 yards and 12 touchdowns helping the Huskies to another successful season. He was also named a Conference All-Star and will attend the Western Combine in Edmonton.

WR Cody Holmes – St. Clair Fratmen – it was another outstanding season for Holmes who was named a Conference All-Star for the second straight year.  He made 30 receptions for 683 yards and 10 touchdowns helping the Fratmen to an undefeated regular season and he will attend the Ontario Regional Combine.

K Eric Maximuik – Regina Thunder – he was named a CJFL All-Canadian leading the Prairie Conference with 20 made field goals including a 51-yard game winner at the final buzzer on the road.  He added three singles on 33 kick-offs and was instrumental in the Thunder hosting the Conference title game.  He will attend the Western Combine.

LB Codey McRoberts – London Beefeaters – in his final CJFL season McRoberts was a force and was named an All-Canadian.  He made 18 solo tackles, and five assisted tackles, two quarterback sacks, had two interceptions including one for a touchdown, blocked three kicks, had two knockdowns, forced a fumble and recovered two of them including one for a touchdown.  He will attend the Ontario Regional Combine.

WR/KR Brandon Poulin – Valley Huskers – a three-time All-Canadian he last played in the 2019 season leading the BC Conference with 61 receptions.  He gained 585 yards that year and had six receiving touchdowns.   On kick returns he ran back 29 kick-offs for an average of 20.7 yards while returning 45 punts for 392 yards.  He will attend the Western Combine.

OL James Sides – Hamilton Hurricanes – a Conference All-Star that anchored a very potent Hurricanes offensive attack both on the ground and through the air.  He will attend the Ontario Regional Combine.
