The Ontario champs have a new head coach

The London Beefeaters are pleased to announce Matt Snyder will be the new head coach entering the 2022 season.

Matt joins the Beefeaters after serving as running back coach at Western University from 2019-2021.

Prior to joining Western, Coach Snyder spent 10 seasons as Offensive Coordinator for high school powerhouse South Collegiate.  As part of that staff, South appeared in five straight TVRA Central Finals, two London City Championships and a 2016 OFSAA Championship, a 63-0 victory, in the highest scoring game in recent OFSAA football history.

In 2017, Matt was named head coach for the London Junior Mustangs U17 team and led the Junior Mustangs to an overall record of 19-8, including 16-3 in the last two seasons, with two Western Conference Championship appearances.

Previously, Matt spent the 2015 season as Offensive Coordinator for the Beefeaters under current President Rob Annen.

From 2005 thru 2016, Matt served as Offensive Coordinator and assistant head coach for the Forest City Thunderbirds football program.

Born in London, Matt was the Beefeaters quarterback 2001 to 2003 under legendary Coach Mike Circelli.

He is a graduate of the University of Windsor where he played quarterback for the Lancers.

Coach Snyder will fulfill his commitment to the London Junior Mustangs football program thru the end of the 2022 summer season while assuming the head coaching role with the Beefeaters immediately.

Together with the head coach announcement, the Beefeaters are excited that Coach Austin Scarpelli will be returning as the associate head coach.  He has previously held that position while also serving as the Special Teams Coordinator and defensive backs coach with the club.

Coach “Scarps” has been involved with the Junior Mustangs program (formerly the London Falcons) at the varsity level for almost 15 seasons and has been a part of several OVFL and OPFL championship teams. During that span, Coach Scarpelli served in a variety of roles, including being a long-time defensive coordinator and was the Falcons’ head coach in 2011. He was named the Junior Mustangs volunteer coach of the year for the varsity program in 2016 and 2019.

As a coach at Oakridge Secondary School, Coach Scarpelli won the Junior TVRA "A" championship in 2009 and several TVRA "B" division championships with the senior team at the school.

The former St. Thomas Aquinas and Beefeaters Alumni (defensive back - 2004-2006) he brings experience coaching in the OUA as a guest coach with the Western Mustangs under Coach Marshall and with the Waterloo Warriors under Coach Bertoia.
