The Saskatoon Hilltops are back in the CJFL National Semi-Final and will travel to Langley to face the Cullen Cup champion Rams on Saturday afternoon.

The Hilltops won the Prairie Conference title with a 29-9 victory over the previously undefeated Regina Thunder after finishing 6-2 during the regular season.

One the major reasons for the Hilltops success this season has been the steady play of their fourth year quarterback Damon Dutton.  The 6’2, 180 pound pivot from North Battleford, Saskatchewan patiently waited his turn in the Hilltops system and now that he is the starter, is poised to lead his club back to the Canadian Bowl.

In the regular season he finished with 127 completions for 1528 yards and 12 touchdowns completing 69% of his passes.  In the Prairie Conference final he had to do something that most Hilltops quarterbacks haven’t had to do, win a Conference title on the road.  As a matter of fact he becomes the first pivot since 2007 having to lead his club away from Saskatoon.  In the final he completed 15 passes for 196 yards, passed for a touchdown and ran for two.

Dutton speaks with Ryan Watters under the CJFL Spotlight.
