The 2021 BC Conference Cullen Cup championship game is set and will feature a rematch of the 2019 title game between the top two seeds.

Langley Rams 39
Valley Huskers 8

The top seed in the BC Conference is heading back to the Cullen Cup championship game as the Rams disposed of the Valley Huskers behind great defence, a strong running attack and a 29-point second quarter.

The Rams make their third straight trip to the title game after 227 yards on the ground on Saturday. Joel Klaassen crewed up the majority of that yardage and scored a pair of touchdowns on 11 carries and 167 yards. Meanwhile quarterback Michael Calvert threw touchdown passes to Daniel Kubongo and Darian Pritchard to add to the scoring.

Defensively the Rams allowed just 125 yards of total offence.  All-Star Tyler Eckert had a massive game with three sacks and three solo tackles and Jesse Goedman added two more sacks.   They would also force seven turnovers including interceptions from Carlton Abote and Cole Barron.

The Huskers lone touchdown came on the ground in the third quarter when Brandon O’Connor got into the end zone.  Quarterback Josh Janssen completed 11 passes for 118 yards.

The bright spot on their defence was Andy Ofosuhene who collected a game high eight tackles and had 2.5 sacks.

The Rams will now host the Okanagan Sun on Saturday in the 2021 Cullen Cup championship game.  The winner will welcome the Prairie Conference champion in the CJFL National Semi-Final game.

Okanagan Sun 33
VI Raiders 0

The Sun set the tone very early when returner Matthew Shipley ran back the opening kick-off 88 yards for a touchdown propelling his club back into the Cullen Cup championship game.    The title game will be a rematch of 2019.

On Saturday quarterback Dominic Britton was 16 of 20 for 316 yards and threw touchdown passes to Shipley and Mike O’Shea.  He also ran for a touchdown putting the cap on a terrific night.

On the defensive side the Sun held the Raiders and All-Star quarterback Jake Laberge to just 84 yards through the air and forced six turnovers.   James Stockwood led the way with three tackles and half a sack that he shared with Tyreece Rockwell.

The Raiders best defender was Gevhahn McNally-Hardisty who picked off two passes and had two solo tackles.

The Sun will now visit the Langley Rams on Saturday in the 2021 Cullen Cup championship game where they have not beaten the Rams franchise since 1995. The winner will welcome the Prairie Conference champion in the CJFL National Semi-Final game
