The Raiders sweep the seasonal series after a 23 point victory on Saturday night at Starlight Stadium.

They would outscore the Rebels 20-7 in the first half and never really looked back.  The offence gathered 509 total yards including an impressive 355 through the air from quarterback Jake Laberge.  He completed 22 passes, four of them for touchdowns.   Alexander Bonnetplume hauled in two majors along with 116 yards while Marcel Grant and Taylor Becker caught the other ones.   Laberge also rushed seven times and scored a touchdown.  Running back Jason Henderson had a monster day with 20 carries and 159 yards.

The defence forced six turnovers highlighted by two interceptions by Gevhahn McNally-Hardisty and a pair of fumble recoveries by Sean Murray.

The Rebels defence gave up a lot but did force four interceptions which included a 75-yard pick six by Jeffroy Ojong and Cordell Holder had three sacks.

Offensively Simon Hales got the call at quarterback connecting with Michael Oliva for a 36-yard touchdown strike.

On Saturday the Raiders (3-4) host the Valley Huskers (4-3) in game that should determine third place in the BC Conference.  The Rebels (1-6) meanwhile will visit the Kamloops Broncos (0-7).

The defending Cullen Cup champion Rams exploded out of the gate scoring 20 of their 27 points in the first quarter.

Their offence was very balanced collecting 254 yards through the air and 219 on the ground.  Quarterback Michael Calvert completed only nine passes but threw for 229 yards and a touchdown to Daniel Kubongo.  The star rookie actually hauled in six passes for 184 yards and that major.   On the ground Joel Klassen and Derek Best each rushed for a touchdown.

The Rams defence continues to be one of the best in the business holding the Broncos to 143 yards of total offence and just 28 on the ground.  They forced six turnovers including interceptions from Nathan Murray and Dawson Marchant.

This coming weekend the Rams (7-0) will visit the Okanagan Sun (6-1) in a game that will determine first place while the Broncos (0-7) will host the Westshore Rebels (1-6).
