The defending Cullen Cup champion Rams continue to roll and stay undefeated after the lopsided victory on Sunday.

After using the running attack in most of their previous wins, the Rams did most of their damage offensively through the air using a pair of quarterbacks that combined for three touchdowns and 297 yards on 11 completions. Their favourite target was Daniel Kubongo who hauled in four passes for an incredible 222 yards, averaging over 55 yards a catch and caught two touchdowns.   Xavion Fleary added another touchdown.

Their Specials Teams also played a major role as Mario Johnson returned a kick-off 100 yards for a score.

Defensively the Rams were once again dominating giving up just 21 yards through the air, picking off three passes.

The lone Rebels touchdown came in the second quarter when Demar Hohnstein plowed into the end zone from a yard out.  Zach Lubin was the best offensive threat for the Rebels rushing 28 times for 119 yards.

This coming weekend the Rams (6-0) will welcome the Kamloops Broncos (0-6) on Saturday while the Rebels (1-5) host the VI Raiders (2-4).

Okanagan Sun 70
VI Raiders 25

The Sun scored early and often on Saturday night dismantling the Raiders for their sixth win of the season.

Running back Malcolm Miller is the first back in the CJFL to reach the 1000-yard plateau after another strong game carrying the rock 27 times for 295 yards and scored two more touchdowns.  He also caught a 17-yard major.   He has now chewed up 1272 yards this season setting a new Sun team record.

Quarterback Dominic Britton completed 12 passes for 288 yards and threw five touchdowns including a pair to Kyle Zakala and singles to Mike O’Shea, Kaiden Banfield and Miller.  Speaking of O’Shea he returned a missed field goal 125 yards for touchdown, which is the second longest in BC Conference history.

On the defence the Sun collected four sacks and held the Raiders to just 38 yards on the ground.

The Raiders on the other hand did most of their damage through the air as quarterback Jake Laberge completed 15 passes for 261 yards and connected on three touchdowns finding Maren Bradbrook, Dylan Pye and Marcel Grant.

This coming weekend the Sun (6-1) will enjoy a bye week while the Raiders (2-4) stay on the road and visit the Westshore Rebels (1-5).

Valley Huskers 15
Kamloops Broncos 0

The Huskers win their fourth of the season using a balanced attack against the winless Broncos.    Brandon O’Connor had 15 carries and scored a touchdown, as did Ebiye Okoko-Chomseng.

Defensively they would bend but not break and forced 10 turnovers including two interceptions from Jordan Chizda as they pitched a shutout.

This coming weekend the Huskers (4-3) enjoy a bye week in preparation of their final game, while the Broncos (0-6) visit the Langley Rams (6-0).
