The Kamloops Broncos were happy to have a break in 2020 after a winless season in 2019 missing the playoffs.  They have made some major changes, have recruited strong and are ready to go later this month.

The club has been busy in the off-season preparing for a post season run in 2021.

What’s New:

The Broncos made a coaching change following the 2019 season announcing Braden Vankoughnett as the new head coach.  He’s no stranger to the Broncos serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in the past. He’s also a former player who was on the roster in 2015.  He'll finally make his long awaited head coaching debut later this month.

Key Grads:

DB Kaden Cook – has moved onto the UBC Thunderbird program after a very strong season in 2019 which included 24 tackles, seven knockdowns, four interceptions and he blocked a kick

OL Rylan Anderson and Dylan Kurtz – they were two important pieces of the Broncos offensive line and have moved onto the USports ranks.  Anderson has enrolled with Acadia while Kurtz has joined Mount Allison

What They Need:

As most teams do, the Broncos are still looking for more depth on both the offensive and defensive lines.

Counting On:

LB Abe Fimbo – the BC Conference Rookie of the Year in 2019 was seemingly all over the field making 38 tackles and three knockdowns, plus he blocked a kick and recovered a fumble

WR Chris Finden – he will be asked to make a major impact this season after collecting 14 receptions for 188 yards in 2019

OL Jordan Smith - he has been thrust into a leadership role on the Broncos offensive line following the departure of the 2019 starters to USports.

The Broncos will open the season over the weekend of August 28th when they host their BC Interior rivals; the Okanagan Sun.
