The CJFL Defensive Backs Week continues…

As a defensive back there are several expectations over the course of a game and a season.   A good “DB” should be able to cover a receiver first and foremost.  They are expected to be able to tackle, knockdown a pass and of course make an interception.   Once an interception is made the expectation is for that defensive back to flip the field and gather some return yards.

For the most part, when there is an interception made and there is opportunity to have a return, a defensive back rarely misses that opportunity.   Our top 5 defensive backs to gain the most return yards all-time have been truly impressive.

A pair of Rams from BC and from different decades check in as the top two and a Calgary Colt from the 1970s still finds himself on the list.

Here are the top 5 all-time interception return yards over the course of a career.

1 – James Schafer – 545 return yards from the South Fraser Rams from 2000-2004

2 – Tom Clancy – 467 return yards from the Surrey Rams from 1988-1991

3 – Wayne Pierce – 466 return yards from the Windsor AKO Fratmen from 1985-1988

4 – Glenn Music – 433 return yards from the Calgary Colts from 1977-1979

5 – Karim Maher – 424 return yards from the Victoria Rebels / VI Raiders from 2004-2007

Each day this week will highlight a new Defensive Backs category.
