Most Rushing Yards, Season

The CJFL running backs week continues.

During a regular season a running back’s body is often battered and bruised.  They get hit on almost every single play whether they are carrying the ball or pass blocking.

Getting through a complete regular season is impressive in itself, but to have success and be an impactful player is on a different level.   Then to reach the 1000 yard plateau puts that rusher in an exclusive group. The 1000 yard plateau in a regular season doesn’t happen every year.  For those that reach it obviously set themselves apart from the rest of the pack.

In CJFL history only five rushers have taken the next step in yardage and reached 1500 yards in a regular season; the top two only needed eight games to reach it.

The top 5 leading rushers for a regular season are as follows:

1 – Tristan Jones – Edmonton Wildcats, 1,903 yards in 2006*

2 – Levon Hawreliak (pictured) – Edmonton Wildcats, 1,687 yards in 2013*

3 – Dean Jones – Edmonton Huskies, 1,666 yards in 1996

4 – Jamel Lyles – Westshore Rebels, 1,604 yards in 2016

5 – Matt Medwick – Chilliwack Huskers, 1,592 yards in 2000

Each day this week, a new category will be highlighted.
