The London Beefeaters announce new head coach

The London Beefeaters are pleased to announce that Gavin Lake will be joining the organization as their new head coach. He brings 26 years of coaching experience including the CFL, USports, CJFL, high school and Austrian Pro Football.

He's won provincial high school championships in both BC (John Barsby Secondary School) and Ontario at London South Collegiate under head coach, Mike Stenning.

He served as the Vice President of Football Operations and running backs coach for the 2008 CJFL Canadian Bowl champion Vancouver Island Raiders.

He's had two Vanier Cup appearances one with Saint Mary's and the other with the University of Calgary, under Head Coach Blake Nill.

Gavin's first CFL experience was with the BC Lions under head coach Wally Buono and his latest was with the 2017 Grey Cup champion Toronto Argos.

Most recently, he served as the Coaching Director for the London Jr. Mustangs.

"I am so fired up to be here!" says Lake.  "In football, there are only so many opportunities. The opportunity to help build upon an OFC championship is all about timing; the time is right! I thank prior coaching and leadership for their upward program direction. Now it's my job to get it done. I think things have come together in a very special time for the Beefs and myself. The new tradition of winning here is first and foremost.  I'm thrilled to be part of a 45-year Beefeater tradition of helping young men become future leaders by loving the game, always competing, and winning the day."
