Former Surrey Rams and Tri-City Bulldogs coach

One of the most dominate coaches in BC Conference history was Nick Kawaza who was fortunate to coach a pair of CJFL teams in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.

Kawaza guided the Surrey Rams from 1988-1995, then again 1997-1998, followed by the Tri-City Bulldogs from 1999-2002.  In all he coached 14 seasons in the CJFL, fourth most all-time and collected an impressive 82 wins, second most in BC Conference history.

He also had great success in the playoffs recording a 10-3 record overall.  His team’s captured the Cullen Cup BC title four times and steered the Rams to the Canadian Bowl back in 1992 in Ottawa.

Over the course of his wonderful coaching career Kawaza was named the Gordon Currie CJFL Coach of the Year twice in 1992 with the Rams and 2001 with the Bulldogs.

Following his CJFL coaching career Kawaza kept involved with the BC Conference sitting on their Board of Directors for a couple of seasons sharing his wealth of knowledge.    He is one of the most well respected football people in British Columbia.

With his resume and outstanding track record Nick Kawaza is most deserving of the CJFL Legendary status.
