Each week the CJFL will celebrate one of the legendary coaches that have graced our sidelines in the past and the present.   There have been hundreds of coaches over the years stretching from British Columbia to Quebec that have all contributed to not only the success of the players on the field, but helping them grow into men and successful citizens off the field.

The very first coach the CJFL needs to recognize is a no brainer as he has constructed a dynasty in Saskatoon.  Tom Sargeant has been the head coach of the Hilltops for 22 seasons and part of their coaching staff for 29 straight years.    Under his leadership this dynasty has won seven of the last eight Canadian Bowl titles and 13 in total, his first in 2001.

Over the course of his 22 regular seasons, “Sarge” has captured more wins than any other coach in CJFL history at 154 and counting.   His team is currently on a 31 game winning streak with their last loss on September 9, 2017 to the Regina Thunder by only three points.   Their last playoff loss was the 2013 PFC championship game.

Sarge, who will coach in his 23rd season this year,  is in a class of his own when it comes to wins and championships in the CJFL and is most deserving of CJFL Legendary status.
