Friday night the CJFL Major Award winners were announced

The Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) is proud to announce their Outstanding Player Award winners for the 2019 season.  The awards were handed out Friday night at the Banquet of Champions in Langley, BC.

The award winners are:

Gordon Currie CJFL Coach of the Year
Howie Zaron - Langley Rams – led the Rams to a perfect 10-0 record and their second straight berth in the Canadian Bowl.  Three of his players were named CJFL All-Canadians

CJFL Rookie of the Year
Receiver/Returner – Harvey Mafuta – GTA Grizzlies – 18 receptions, 352 yards, 2 touchdowns, 14 kick-off returns, 394 yards, 1-109 yard touchdown, 11 punt returns, 199 yards, 1-65 yard touchdown, 29 tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 5 special teams tackles, 1 knockdown, 3 interceptions

Larry Wruck Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year
Linebacker Jadyn Pingue – Saskatoon Hilltops – 29 tackles, 7 assisted tackles, 1 knockdown, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception

Peter Dalla Riva Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year
Running Back Andrew Pocrnic – Langley Rams – 163 carries, 1199 yards, 26 touchdowns, 18 receptions, 279 yards, 1 touchdown.  He set a new CJFL single season record with 27 touchdowns scored

CJFL Past Commissioners Award
DL Caleb Haight – Saskatoon Hilltops

CJFL Stewart MacDonald Executive of the Year
Murad Al-Katib – Regina Thunder

CJFL Life Member
Chris Swartz – Langley Rams

The 112th Canadian Bowl will kick-off Saturday November 16, at 1:00pm at McLeod Stadium in Langley BC.
