The Rams are headed back to the BC Conference Cullen Cup championship game after a dominating semi-final victory on Saturday afternoon.   Their running attack was unstoppable gaining 357 yards led by the Conference’s top offensive player Andrew Pocrnic and his 24 carries for 190 yards and two touchdowns.  Maximillian Joseph was also a force on the ground with 12 rushes for 100 yards and quarterback Colby Peters had a rushing touchdown.

In the absence of starting quarterback Duncan Little, the Rams turned to Peters to lead them offensively.  However he didn’t need to do much thanks to the running attack.  Peters did throw a pair of touchdown passes to Khalik Johnson.

Defensively the Rams were rock solid forcing seven turnovers including five interceptions.  Ryan Barthelson had two of them and a 30 yard pick-six.  Meanwhile Nick Sorace tallied two of their three sacks.

The Sun kept the game close in the first quarter with a 7-7 tie, but it didn’t last long.  Their two touchdowns came on pass plays when Alex Douglas spotted Kyle Zakala and Kaden Wagner for majors.  In all Douglas threw for 113 yards and those two touchdowns, however the five interceptions was his undoing.

On the defence Tyler Going made eight tackles and Donovin Small picked off a pass.

The Rams will now host the Westshore Rebels in the BC Conference Cullen Cup on Saturday for the right to host the 112th Canadian Bowl.

The all Island BC Conference semi-final didn’t disappoint in a very physical game with Rebels using homefield to clinch the playoff win.

Neither team had a lot of success moving the football nor did it show on the scoreboard.  As a matter of fact the Rebels were held out of the end zone despite winning the game.  Kicker Will Hughes was dynamite connecting on all five field goal attempts.  He hit from 13, 22, 25, 29 and 39 yards out to account for all but two Rebels points.  Quarterback Shawn Lal had 11 completions for 191 yards finding Nathan Falito three times for 108 yards.

Defensively the Rebels forced five turnovers and three sacks.  Maleek Womack had an interception, two tackles and a knockdown and Austin Morgan had three tackles and a sack holding the Raiders run game to 93 yards.

The Raiders turned to quarterback Jake Laberge on Saturday night who completed 13 passes for 177 yards but threw two interceptions.  He did find North Rainey seven times for 109 yards and Andre Goulbourne scored the lone touchdown of the game.

The Rebels advance to the BC Conference Cullen Cup championship game on Saturday afternoon when they travel to face the Langley Rams with the winner hosting the 112th Canadian Bowl.
