For the second straight year and third time in four seasons the Sun and Rams meet in the CJFL playoffs.  This time around it’s during a semi-final rather than the BC Conference Cullen Cup title game, plus the venue has changed.

In 2018 and 2016 these two teams met at the Apple Bowl with the Rams going on the road to upset the higher seed Sun for a win.  Last season they dominated the Sun in a 39-7 victory in the Cullen Cup while in 2016 it was closer, but the Rams still got the job done with a 23-20 win.

This past regular season the Rams swept the seasonal series beating the Sun 14-10 on a last second play on September 8th, then on September 28th in Langley 44-9.   The passing game rather than their great running attack has worked for the Rams in the seasonal series.  That said CJFL record setter Andrew Pocrnic scored two of his 27 touchdowns against the Sun, both in that lopsided win at the end of September.

Through the air quarterback Duncan Little compiled 369 yards and four touchdowns during the game on September 28th, but didn’t play in their first meeting. Instead Tristan Secord-Yanciw and Colby Peters combined for 243 yards and three majors.
Defensively the Rams have allowed just two touchdowns in the series, one on the ground and the other through the air.

Throughout the season the Rams have had their way with opposing defences and have the flexibility to deviate from their original game plan in needed.  They can hurt you with the run and Pocrnic, or air it out with Little and his outstanding receiver core led by Khalik Johnson and Jarryd Taylor. They combined for 16 touchdowns.   Somehow the Sun will need to limit their big plays and win the turnover battle if they have any hope in knocking off the undefeated Rams.
