The best in Ontario on the defensive side

The Canadian Junior Football League in conjunction with the Ontario Conference is proud to announce the 2019 Conference Defensive All-Stars.

There are four positional categories and the Hamilton Hurricanes lead the way with four players named, while the GTA Grizzlies and Windsor AKO Fratmen each have three.

The 2019 Ontario Conference Defensive All-Stars are:

Defensive Line:
Tom Zarafonaitis - Hamilton Hurricanes - (second consecutive year) – 13 tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 5.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries

Soren Hallschmid – London Beefeaters
Jordan Krug – Windsor AKO Fratmen - (second consecutive year) – 7 tackles, 1 sack

Zechariah Willems – Niagara Regional Raiders – 20 tackles, 6 assisted tackles, 2 sacks

Linebackers:
Mark Straw – GTA Grizzlies – 30 tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 3 sacks, 1 blocked kick, 1 knockdown, 1 interception

Blake Ouellette – Windsor AKO Fratmen – 23 tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 6.5 sacks, 2 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery

Isaiah Joseph – Hamilton Hurricanes – 15 tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 3 sacks, 1 knockdown, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown

Defensive Backs:
Isaiah Bonefant – GTA Grizzlies (second consecutive year and pictured) – 18 tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 1 sack, 2 knockdowns, 1 fumble recovery, 2 interceptions

Tanner Gaskill-Cadwallader – London Beefeaters – 16 tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 2 sacks, 2 knockdowns, 3 interceptions including 1 for a touchdown

Damarre Brown – Hamilton Hurricanes – 13 tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 1 sack, 1 blocked kick, 1 knockdown, 1 forced fumble, 3 fumble recoveries including 1 touchdown

Terrell Theberge – Hamilton Hurricanes – 11 tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 4 interceptions

Dante Fornasiero – Windsor AKO Fratmen – 15 tackles, 1 knockdown, 4 interceptions

Punter:
Gagon Bains – GTA Grizzlies (second consecutive year) – 44 punts averaging 33 yards a punt

The Ontario Conference will enter the playoffs this weekend with a pair of games as the Hamilton Hurricanes host the London Beefeaters on Saturday and the GTA Grizzlies visit the Windsor AKO Fratmen on Sunday.
