Both the Hilltops and Huskies claim a Week 11 win

Saskatoon Hilltops 48
Edmonton Wildcats 8

Including playoffs and Canadian Bowls the Hilltops won their 27th straight game on Sunday pounding the Wildcats in a playoff preview.

The Hilltops offence gained 577 total yards primarily through the air.  Quarterback Tyler Hermann in his final regular season game was 20 of 26 for 364 yards and threw four touchdowns.   He threw touchdown passes to Keegan Dicks, Connor Graham, Taner Rhode and a 58 yard major to Dillan Heintz in the second quarter.

On the ground Ben Abrook added to his impressive season with 101 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown.  Carter McLean also scored on the ground.

Defensively the Hilltops forced five turnovers and six sacks led by Jesse McNabb who had three of them.

The Wildcats on the other hand didn’t do much offensively.  Their only points came on the defensive side of the ball in the third quarter when Zach Putters returned an interception 43 yards for a pick six.

The Hilltops finish 8-0 and will host the Wildcats (2-6) on Sunday at SMF Field in a Prairie Conference semi-final.

Edmonton Huskies 49
Calgary Colts 21

The Huskies put together a very balanced attack on Sunday collecting 490 yards of total offence.  An incredible 11 different receivers caught passes from two quarterbacks.  Declan O’Flahery threw for 139 yards and four touchdowns while Jordan Lane completed two more majors.   Both Ronnie Oling and Harrison Cabel each caught two touchdown passes and Sam Clayton and Adner St. Hilaire hauled in the others.

The ground game gathered 220 yards led by Alex Gayle and his 11 carries for 129 yards.

On the defensive side Nicholas Cowan picked up a fumble and scored a touchdown with a three yard return, all part of a 35 point second quarter.

The special teams also blocked two Colt kicks.

Despite being down 35-0 at halftime the Colts did rally and never quit in the second half scoring all 21 of their points.  

Quarterback Cole Belway completed 21 passes for 216 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes finding Chinomso Chikwendu and Seguin Adeseye.

Defensive back Tyrese Bristol also scored for the Colts.

The Huskies (6-2) now move onto the Prairie Conference semis this coming Sunday.  They will hit the road and play in Regina, taking on the Thunder (6-2) with the winner moving onto the Conference final.  The Colts (1-7) season comes to a close.
