The best players from Week 10 in the CJFL

The CJFL is proud to announce the Week 10 Players of the Week after some incredible individual performances.

Offensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
RB Ben Abrook – Saskatoon Hilltops

The run game continues to be a dominate force for the Hilltops led by Ben Abrook who pasted the 1,000 yard plateau this past weekend with 18 carries for 206 yards and scored a pair of majors.

BC Conference
RB Andrew Pocrnic – Langley Rams

The Rams’ running back was simply outstanding scoring a total of six touchdowns this past weekend.  He rushed 17 times for 84 yards and five majors, then caught two balls for 85 yards and a score.

Ontario Conference
QB Daniel Mailloux – Windsor AKO Fratmen

In a battle for first place in the Ontario Conference and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, quarterback Daniel Mailloux led a second half comeback on the road against the defending champs.  He completed 23 of 41 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns as well as carried the ball five times for 14 yards.

Defensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
LB Romareo Ried – Calgary Colts

Despite the loss over the weekend Colts’ linebacker Romareo Ried was seemingly all over the field making an incredible 12 solo tackles and assisted on a special teams tackle.

BC Conference
DB Maleek Womack – Westshore Rebels

The Rebels pitched a shutout this past weekend and Maleek Womack was a major reason why intercepting three passes returning them 87 yards with the Kamloops Broncos driving.  He added two solo tackles and had an assisted stop.

Ontario Conference
DL Isaiah Joseph – Hamilton Hurricanes

Despite the loss against the Windsor AKO Fratmen, Isaiah Joseph was a defensive force that limited the Fratmen rushing attack to only 59 yards.  He had seven solo tackles and more importantly forced three fumbles all of which were recovered by his defensive teammates.  He also knocked down a pass.

Special Teams Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
K Rylan Kleiter – Saskatoon Hilltops

For the third straight week Hilltops’ kicker Rylan Kleiter is honoured as the Special Teams Player of the Week connecting on four field goals, five converts and a single.  This was his first game as the Hilltops punter as well and averaged 36 yards a kick.

BC Conference
K Isaac Wegner – Okanagan Sun

In a comeback victory on the weekend Isaac Wegner nailed both field goal attempts from 29 and 30 yards out.  He also flipped the field nicely punting eight times averaging 38.7 yards.  He added four kick-offs averaging 59 yards.

Ontario Conference
KR Harvey Mafuta – GTA Grizzlies

In quite possibly one of the most impressive individual performances in CJFL history Harvey Mafuta literally did not come off the field as he spectacularly made plays in all three facets of the game.  In a tight contest on the road he constantly put his team’s offense in good field position as he returned five punts, two kickoffs and one missed field goal for a total of 195 yards.  While on defence, he contributed seven tackles, had a knockdown and returned two interceptions for 41 total yards.  He even contributed on the offensive side with four touches for 26 yards.
