The Hilltops, Thunder and Huskies win in Week 9

The Huskies flew out of the gate scoring 27 points in the first half and never looked back.  They tallied 450 yards of total offence led by the ground game.  Brandt Burzuk rushed 20 times for 127 yards and had three touchdowns.  In all the Huskies rushed for 262 yards.

Through the air quarterback Jordan Lane threw for 203 yards on 12 completions and threw a touchdown pass to Ronnie Oling.

Defensively Tadi Siwira collected six solo tackles and had half a sack.  Meanwhile Nahome Giorgis picked off a pass.

Rifles’ quarterback Riley Naujoks completed 21 passes for 203 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Jake Roger.  On the ground Mathe Mitayango rushed for a major on 14 carries.

This coming weekend the Huskies (4-2) face the Edmonton Wildcats (2-4) and the Rifles (1-5) who are on the outside looking in at the playoffs will visit the Saskatoon Hilltops (6-0).

The Hilltops just keep on winning with another dominating performance outscoring the Wildcats 23-1 in the second half.

Offensively quarterbacks Tyler Herman and Doug Fleming combined for 249 yards and three touchdown passes.   Keegan Dicks caught two majors and Connor Graham hauled in the other one.  Ben Abrook on the ground continues to be rock solid with 22 carries for 114 yards and another touchdown.

Over on the defence Tristan Hering had six tackles and a sack while Jadyn Pingue had four stops and an interception.

The Wildcats lone touchdown came in the second quarter when Dante Tabacu found Lucas Howe for the major.  Tabacu completed 17 passes for 222 yards and Howe caught six of them for 108 yards.

Chopper Hippe led the Cats defence with nine solo tackles.

This weekend the Hilltops (6-0) who have home field advantage throughout the playoffs host the Winnipeg Rifles (1-5) while the Wildcats (2-4) face the Edmonton Huskies (4-2).

The snow and cold conditions in Calgary didn’t seem to bother the Thunder as they collected 583 yards of total offence in the blowout win.

A pair of Thunder quarterbacks combined for 13 completions, 308 yards and three touchdowns. Ethan Douglas caught three of those passes for 130 yards and had a touchdown.   Both Isaac Foord and DeShawn LeJour also caught majors.   On the ground the Thunder pounded for 274 yards led by Brayden Long who scored two touchdowns on 118 yards and 11 carries.  Maxwell Foerster, Matthew Shewchuk and Carter Shewchuk also picked up rushing touchdowns.

The Colts lone score came in the fourth quarter as Ike Okafor rushed into the endzone.  He carried 12 times for 131 yards.

This weekend the Thunder (4-2) will host the Colts (1-5) in the back half of the home and home.  The players will be happy to know there is no snow in the forecast for Sunday.
