Offensive Players of the Week
BC Conference
WR North Rainey – VI Raiders
He had a major impact on the Raiders third straight victory over the weekend collecting seven receptions for 186 yards and caught a pair of touchdown passes. His longest reception was a 55 yard TD and he averaged 26 yards a catch.
Prairie Conference
RB Ben Abrook – Saskatoon Hilltops
Of the 142 yards the Hilltops recorded on the ground on the weekend Ben Abrook had 128 of them. He was a force with 30 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns, including the game winner with just seconds left.
Ontario Conference
RB Tazie Vang-Bell – London Beefeaters
The second year running back did most of his damage coming out of the back field as he hauled in four passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. His longest catch went for 66 yards. He also carried the rock three times for 43 yards with his longest run going for 31 yards. In all gathered 205 yards on only seven touches.
Defensive Players of the Week
BC Conference
DB Nate Adams – Okanagan Sun
Despite the loss on Sunday, Adams was solid on the defensive side. He intercepted two passes returning them 24 yards, killing offensive drives by the Rams’. He also tallied three solo tackles and had a knockdown.
Prairie Conference
DB Brandyn Martin – Regina Thunder
The Thunder defence kept the Hilltops in check for most of the game and they were led by defensive back Brandyn Martin. He tallied an interception, had a knockdown, four solo tackles and assisted on one.
Ontario Conference
LB Mark Straw – GTA Grizzlies
The Grizzlies defence was suffocating on Sunday and leading the way was linebacker Mark Straw. He was a force in all facets as he stuffed the run with six tackles, tallied a knockdown and also intercepted a pass, returning it 38 yards. For good measure Straw also blocked a kick which gave the Grizzlies fantastic field position which led to an offensive score.
Special Teams Players of the Week
BC Conference
K Nikolas Hunchak – VI Raiders
Whenever the Raiders offence stalled and needed to flip the field Nikolas Hunchak was there averaging 33 yards on eight punts. He connected on a 12 yard field goal and was perfect on six converts. He also booted seven kickoffs averaging 26 net yards.
Prairie Conference
LB Hunter Lawson – Edmonton Wildcats
One of the bright spots for the Wildcats in their five point loss was the play of Hunter Lawson on special teams. He collected a game high four special teams tackles.
Ontario Conference
KR Shamar Skerritt – Ottawa Sooners
The Sooners didn’t have much to cheer about over the weekend, however kick returner Shamar Skerritt was one of those things. He had five kickoff returns for 121 yards and an average of 24.2 yards. He also returned two punts on the day, as well as contributing on offence with three receptions for 44 yards.
